PORTLAND, Ore. \u2014 Saint Mary’s women’s tennis took on Portland with multiple close fought matches, but ultimately fell to the Pilots 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In doubles play, Elif Gunal\/Madison Weekley<\/a> earned a 6-4 win, improving to 6-6 on the season as a pair. Both Sofia Darayie\/Tiana Fox<\/a> and Sophie Stanton<\/a>\/Sydney Wilson<\/a> narrowly lost their respective matches, each falling 7-6, giving the Pilots the early match lead with the doubles point.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson recorded the lone win in singles play for the Gaels, posting a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The redshirt sophomore improved to 6-8 on the season. Portland fought off another slew of highly competitive matches in singles play but the Pilots would solidify a 6-1 match victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n
