TALLAHASSE, Fla. \u2013\u00a0The Syracuse University women’s tennis team fell 4-2 to Florida State on Sunday afternoon at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Orange (6-11, 2-8) faced an early deficit as the Seminoles picked up wins in all three doubles contests. Florida State claimed the first match as Cade Cricchio and M.B. Deatherage logged a 6-3 win over Leena Bennetto<\/a> and Emma Scaldalai<\/a>. Eva Shaw and Laura Putz then knocked off Anastasia Sysoeva<\/a> and Nelly Knezkova<\/a> 7-5 to secure the doubles point. Kristyna Lavickova and Tina Li defeated Serafima Shastova<\/a> and Monika Wojcik<\/a> in a set tiebreak to sweep doubles.\u00a0<\/p>\n Shastova wasted no time leveling the match at one apiece with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Deatherage. Scaldalai put the Orange in front with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lauren Anderson, but the Seminoles stormed back from there. Lavickova posted a 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 triumph over Wojcik, and Li bounced back after dropping the first set to defeat Knezkova 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to give Florida State the advantage. Cricchio secured the victory with a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-0 win over Bennetto. Sysoeva’s clash with No. 94-ranked Shaw at No. 1 singles went unfinished.\u00a0<\/p>\n Syracuse returns to Drumlins for its final two matches of the regular season next weekend.
