(ABC News: Ebony ten Broeke)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Like many of her artworks, the winning painting was of a scene from Tasmania&#8217;s South West Wilderness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">She has visited the remote location 16 times and plans to take one more trip.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s true wilderness, absolutely unspoilt, rugged,&#8221;  Humble said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I paint what I love. (ABC News: Ebony ten Broeke)<\/p>\n<p>Large to small \u2014 Joan Humble&#8217;s exhibition<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Humble has finished work on an exhibition of more than 40 works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It has taken her three years to complete the paintings, which range in size from large to small pictures, some covering just 10 centimetres by 5 centimetres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Humble&#8217;s exhibition is on at the Lady Franklin Gallery just outside of Hobart, a building dating back to the 1840s built in the Greek Revivalist architectural style, which was privately funded by Lady Jane Franklin, the wife of Tasmania&#8217;s then-lieutenant-governor, Sir John Franklin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The space is now home to the Art Society of Tasmania.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Paintings of landscapes.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/5f25fafb8d1fb54d3103a5543a1fdd2c.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">It&#8217;s taken Humble three years to paint the collection for her final exhibition. (ABC News: Ebony ten Broeke)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The vice president of the society, Vicki Chapman, said Humble&#8217;s realist style of paintings captures wild places, particularly Port Davey in Tasmania&#8217;s far south.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;They are very precise and those who have been down there and know the area, you could pick exactly where it is,&#8221; Ms Chapman said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Joan is recognised for her miniatures all over the world. (ABC News: Ebony ten Broeke)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Ms Chapman described Humble as an inspiration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;When you are driven and she is driven to get up and paint every day, what a wonderful way to live your life,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Humble said she was grateful for her life as an artist, her &#8220;wonderful&#8221; husband and her oncologist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I look back and think of all the blessings I&#8217;ve had and the happiness I&#8217;ve had through my life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;How you think about things makes a big difference.
