Pressure is growing on Liverpool boss Arne Slot following the defeat to Manchester City, and the prospect of Jurgen Klopp returning to take over at Anfield is being talked up<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp has been tipped for a potential return to Liverpool amid suggestions that he is \u201cwaiting\u201d for the call to replace Arne Slot.<\/p>\n

The current Reds boss finds himself coming under increasing pressure as Liverpool\u2019s season risks spiraling out of control. Saturday\u2019s 4-0 defeat to Manchester City<\/a> leaves the Champions League<\/a> as the only piece of silverware up for grabs, with defending champions Paris Saint-Germain up next.<\/p>\n

Liverpool still needs to secure a place at Europe\u2019s top table for next season as well, and that is far from secure with seven league games remaining. Slot\u2019s<\/a> side looks as though they will have to rely on the Premier League gaining an extra spot in the competition.<\/p>\n

Regardless of whether the Reds reach that minimum requirement or not, many fans already seem to have lost patience with Slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A large number of supporters left Saturday\u2019s game at the Etihad Stadium early and sang Xabi Alonso\u2019s name<\/a>, with the former midfielder the favorite to take over should Slot be dismissed.<\/p>\n

Those that stayed voiced their displeasure at yet another dismal display and incurred the wrath of Dominik Szoboszlai for their troubles<\/a>. Meanwhile, fans have voted overwhelmingly in favor of the club firing Slot now<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But should the Dutchman be relieved of his duties, the prospect of Klopp<\/a> returning to Anfield has not been ruled out.<\/p>\n

The German, of course, spent nearly nine years in charge of the Reds, where he gained legendary status after leading the club to Champions League and Premier League<\/a> titles, among other trophies.<\/p>\n

Football Insider<\/a> claims there is a chance Klopp could be heading back to Merseyside. According to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, the 58-year-old may be \u201cwaiting across the water to come back and reclaim his throne.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Wyness does play down the rumor, describing it as \u201ca little bit fanciful\u201d, he doesn\u2019t rule it out, having suggested that it could be the case that Klopp is waiting for the call from Liverpool.<\/p>\n

In any case, Liverpool is not thought to be preparing any decision on Slot\u2019s future at this moment, with those inside Anfield still said to be backing the current head coach despite recent results<\/a>.<\/p>\n
