The album will be her eighth, coming hot off the back of 2024\u2019s\u00a0Brat, a record that stopped being just an album and became a full cultural event, spawning memes, discourse and eventually the mockumentaryThe Moment<\/a>. In the time since, she\u2019s also scored Emerald Fennell\u2019s Wuthering Heights\u00a0<\/a>adaptation starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie<\/a>, and released a companion album<\/a> to go with it, because apparently one high\u2011concept project at a time is simply not the Charli way.<\/p>\n Fans have clocked the pace, and they\u2019re both impressed and mildly alarmed. On Reddit, one wrote, \u201cWhen does this girl sleep?,\u201d while another added, \u201cShe just put one out!??! Last year she also shrugged that \u201cyou can never really do the same thing twice and my next record will probably be a flop, which I\u2019m down for to be honest\u201d, while her collaborators A.G. Cook, Finn Keane and husband, George Daniel, described the follow\u2011up as \u201canti\u2011Brat\u201d and \u201ccompletely the opposite\u201d of what they\u2019d just made together in a Grammys i<\/a>nterview from last year February<\/a>.<\/p>\n All of this is unfolding against the backdrop of fresh tension around the\u00a0Wuthering Heights\u00a0project. Sky Ferreira recently appeared in a fan\u2019s Instagram comments<\/a> after they resurfaced her 2012 video \u201cEverything Is Embarrassing\u201d, claiming that a favourite artist \u201crecords my old songs\u201d and saying she has \u201cproof of everything\u201d, which many took as a pointed reference to the soundtrack. <\/p>\n In response, Charli\u2019s team issued a detailed statement to Billboard emphasising that she has made multiple albums and written \u201ccountless songs\u201d for others, and that she \u201calways shares credits fairly and appropriately, and values her collaborators tremendously\u201d. They said that, ahead of the\u00a0Wuthering Heights\u00a0album release<\/a>, \u201ca standard review process was conducted\u201d on a small number of tracks, involving managers, lawyers, artists and producers, and that \u201call relevant parties were consulted throughout\u201d before credits and splits were agreed in writing.<\/p>\n Charli hasn\u2019t publicly responded to Ferreira beyond that statement from her team, and there\u2019s still no release date or title attached to the new record.
