LATHAM, N.Y. \u2013 The Marist University women’s tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Siena on the road Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Red Foxes improved\u00a0to 9-6 on the season and 4-1 in MAAC play, while the Saints dropped to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in conference action.<\/p>\n

Marist\u00a0secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Junior Caterina Assi<\/a> and freshman Yasmin Asnis<\/a> earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2, while sophomore Lola Ungerman<\/a> and senior Cloe Clements Sorde<\/a> followed with a 6-1 win at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match featuring freshman Tessa Wachtel<\/a> and sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon<\/a> was unfinished with Siena leading 5-3.<\/p>\n

The Red Foxes carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Assi led the way with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1. Lorentzon followed with a three-set win at No. 2, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while Clements Sorde added a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3.<\/p>\n

Ungerman delivered a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4, and sophomore Ella Lindsey<\/a> secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6. Asnis dropped a tight match at No. 5, falling 7-6 (4), 6-1.<\/p>\n
