(Weatherzone)<\/p>\n<p>The storm cell could disrupt transport and other essential services, the updated travel advice said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Know your accommodation&#8217;s evacuation plan. (Weatherzone)It is expected to pass east of Vanuatu, another popular tourist destination with Australians, but will not make landfall in either nation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/weatherzone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"Weatherzone\">Weatherzone<\/a>But it is threatening to hit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/new-zealand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"New Zealand\">New Zealand<\/a> by the weekend with Auckland, the country&#8217;s largest city, in the firing line. \ufeff<\/p>\n<p>Fiji&#8217;s cyclone season lasts from November until April, and the island nation has been struck hard in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, Cyclone Winston, a category 5 storm, killed 44 people as it battered the country.<\/p>\n<p>Fiji was hit by three cyclones in 2021, with the most severe \u2014 Cyclone Ana \u2014 causing millions of dollars of damage and killing one person.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/9f37108e-f29c-4afa-9f78-fa0bc6eb23e1.jpeg\"   alt=\"Australia's then-Foreign Minister Julie Bishop walks through a house destroyed by Cyclone Winston in 2016.\"\/>Australia&#8217;s then-Foreign Minister Julie Bishop walks through a house destroyed by Cyclone Winston in 2016.
