Add us as a preferred source on Google<\/a> to your favourites list for news you can trust<\/p>\n Verstappen confirmed last month that he will participate in the endurance classic at the N\u00fcrburgring across May 14-17, with the event falling in a break in the F1 calendar between the Miami and Canadian grands prix.<\/p>\n The Red Bull driver took part in a recent NLS race at the German venue, dominating alongside teammates Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon.<\/p>\n However, the trio was later disqualified for using seven sets of tyres \u2013 one more than the permitted six \u2013 over the course of qualifying and the race combined.<\/p>\n Go deeper: Max Verstappen and his war on the F1 2026 rules<\/p>\n Will Max Verstappen walk away from Formula 1 over the F1 2026 rules?<\/a><\/p>\n \u2018Pretty terrible\u2019 \u2013 The Max Verstappen F1 2026 warning that went ignored<\/a><\/p>\n Following the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian grands prix, Verstappen revealed last week that he will return to the N\u00fcrburgring on April 18-19<\/a> to take part in the 24-hour qualifiers.<\/p>\n The qualifiers, which will see Verstappen drive the Nordschleife at night for the first time, had originally been set to clash with F1\u2019s trip to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n Reflecting on his last visit to the N\u00fcrburgring, Verstappen said it was \u201ca shame\u201d to be stripped of victory, but claimed that it might turn out to be a positive by sharpening the team\u2019s processes ahead of the big race next month.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cOverall, it was a great weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had a really good time, together with my with my teammates also.<\/p>\n \u201cThen, of course, we had a little mistake involved when we were practicing the pit stops, where they then added another set on the car when we were doing the other things.<\/p>\n \u201cBut besides that, of course in the race, it\u2019s very straightforward where everyone just uses four new sets.<\/p>\n \u201cA shame, of course, to lose it, but at the same time probably it puts the team on point. Maybe it needed that a little bit.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the overall working experience was really good, also within the team.<\/p>\n \u201cThe engineers know what they\u2019re doing. They have been incredibly successful for a while in GT racing.<\/p>\n \u201cSo for me, overall, it\u2019s been a really fun weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n Verstappen has repeatedly threatened to walk away from F1 over recent months due to his unhappiness with the F1 2026 regulations, which he has branded \u201canti-racing.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked if his return to the N\u00fcrburgring gave him a sense of satisfaction Formula 1 currently cannot, he replied: \u201cIt\u2019s impossible to compare, but I wanted to do that for a while.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really something that I enjoy a lot.
