Wales<\/a> national team captain Aaron Ramsey<\/a> has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35.<\/p>\n

Ramsey initially came through the academy at Cardiff City<\/a> before joining Arsenal<\/a> where he spent a decade of his career.<\/p>\n

Following his time in North London the midfielder went on to play for Juventus<\/a>, Rangers<\/a>, and Nice<\/a> before returning to Cardiff for two further seasons. Most recently, he had a brief spell playing in Mexico for Pumas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This has not been an easy decision to make,” Ramsey said in a statement. “After a lot of consideration I have decided to retire from football.”<\/p>\n

Ramsey went on to praise Wales fans for their support ‘through thick and thin’ during his 86 caps for his country.<\/p>\n

“Secondly, thank you to all the clubs I’ve been lucky enough to play for,” he continued.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to all the managers and staff that have helped me be able to live my dream to play at the highest level.<\/p>\n

“And a huge thank you to my wife and children and all my family. Without you by my side throughout, none of this would have been possible.”<\/p>\n
