{"id":59210,"date":"2025-08-11T04:59:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T04:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/59210\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T04:59:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T04:59:09","slug":"quinn-would-be-flabbergasted-if-qr-misses-2026-slot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/59210\/","title":{"rendered":"Quinn would be \u2018flabbergasted\u2019 if QR misses 2026 slot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A REJUVENATED Queensland Raceway made its Supercars Championship return across the weekend, and there\u2019s little doubt in Tony Quinn\u2019s eyes that it should be no one-hit wonder.<\/p>\n<p>Quinn has invested heavily into sprucing up the Ipswich venue since purchasing it from John Tetley in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Six years on from its last Supercars round, QR\u2019s long-awaited day in the sun came and a largely good impression was left.<\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no guarantee just yet that it will be part of the 2026 calendar.<\/p>\n<p>With Ruapuna Raceway confirmed to be a new addition, stakeholders are debating how to grow the schedule to 14 stops so that the Christchurch round doesn\u2019t come at the expense of an existing event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously when I bought the track, I had a lot to do: it\u2019s almost like qualifying last and having to fight your way to the front,\u201d said Quinn.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/zero-to-60-and-beyond-book?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tony-quinn-book_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I have been helped by a great team of people that work here and are pretty much wedded to the place and because I pay them each week they keep coming back!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we always knew that if we presented a good product, that there would be a chance to talk about the V8s coming back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe and (former Supercars chief operating officer) Tim Watsford had a chat last year, or whenever it was, and we sort of planted the seed of how could we make it happen. So now it\u2019s happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been just so good.
