{"id":592223,"date":"2026-04-07T23:26:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T23:26:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/592223\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T23:26:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T23:26:19","slug":"roland-dane-lauds-general-motors-grant-mcpherson-signing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/592223\/","title":{"rendered":"Roland Dane lauds General Motors&#8217; Grant McPherson signing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PREMIAIR Racing team principal Roland Dane has hailed Grant McPherson\u2019s recruitment a major coup for General Motors.<\/p>\n<p>V8 Sleuth broke the news last month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/gm-poaches-tech-chief-from-leading-ford-squad\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that GM had signed McPherson from Grove Racing<\/a>, where he\u2019s spent the past several seasons as its technical director.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend\u2019s Taup\u014d Super440 will be the first event for the Groves without \u2018Shippy\u2019 on the ground, as he quietly serves the remainder of his six-month notice period.<\/p>\n<p>That will leave him clear to start at GM sometime before the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000.<\/p>\n<p>McPherson\u2019s impending arrival has Camaro Supercar teams upbeat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-43-scale-2022-bathurst-1000-gen-3-launch-livery-chevrolet-camaro-model?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ACD43C22A_1_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a big fan of Grant and have been for many years. He worked for me for a long time and it was very positive from both our points of view,\u201d Dane told V8 Sleuth, with reference to their time together at Triple Eight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was disappointed when he went back down south (initially to join Walkinshaw Andretti United), but he\u2019d be the first person to tell you that he went to the wrong place to begin with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen I believe he has enjoyed his time at Grove, but he has decided to move on as people will. It happens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I were the Groves, I\u2019d be sorry to see him go, but by the same token, that\u2019s what happens in life.
