The final trailer has dropped for the much-anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, which sees Anne Hathaway’s Andy and Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly reunite. Commenting on the trailer<\/a>, fans labelled the film “iconic” as they count down the days until its release on May 1.<\/p>\n

Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also back for more, with Simone Ashley, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Patrick Brammall joining the cast.<\/p>\n

But one name is noticeably absent from the cast list, not that fans are missing him. Nate, Andy’s boyfriend from the original movie, will not be in the sequel, with the pair having finished for good in the two decades between films. <\/p>\n

But Adrian Grenier, who played Nate, appears to be taking his character’s absence well. <\/p>\n

The actor has appeared in a new ad for Starbucks<\/a> in which he addresses not being invited back for the sequel. <\/p>\n

“You might’ve seen the headlines. I wasn’t asked to be part of a certain sequel,” Grenier tells a barista in the advert. “But, I’m good. Really.”<\/p>\n

The actor then raises a cup of Starbucks Energy Refresher and says: “A toast to Nate. He made a mean sandwich, loved his girlfriend… to a point. Okay, so he wasn’t perfect. So, let’s leave Nate in 2006 and keep this good energy going!”<\/p>\n

At the end of the ad, he quips: “I mean, if they call… I’m free.”<\/p>\n

Grenier has previously spoken<\/a> about how the discourse surrounding his character has changed over the years, with Nate becoming the real villain of the film to fans who believe he wasn’t truly supportive of Andy.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly<\/a> in 2021, Grenier said: “All those memes that came out were shocking to me.<\/p>\n

“It hadn’t occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time, and in many ways he’s very selfish and self-involved, it was all about him, he wasn’t extending himself to support Andy in her career.”<\/p>\n

The actor added: “But after time to reflect and much deliberation, I’ve come to realize the truth in that perspective.”<\/p>\n

The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a> is released in cinemas on 1 May.<\/p>\n
