Corowa Golf Club is open for golf, pizza and beers but still no movies as it moves toward entering into voluntary administration later this month.<\/p>\n
General manager Ashley Boyd said the course was still open and would continue to operate throughout the administration process.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe course is being maintained by our own greens team, and they\u2019re doing a great job; the course is in amazing nick,\u201d Mr Boyd said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pro shop is open seven days a week, and the driving range is open.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently, the bar is open Thursday through Sunday from 12pm to 8pm, with pre-made pizzas now available again.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs far as golf goes, it\u2019s business as usual.\u201d<\/p>\n
Comments on Facebook in support of the club are rolling in with Ray Bonnici\u2019s post about his recent experience just one of many.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve heard reports over the last couple of months that the course is terrible,\u201d Ray\u2019s post read.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me tell you, the course is absolutely fantastic.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a pleasure to play with three members who made me feel very welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
The back half of the clubhouse remains closed, including the cinema, with no known timeline of if or when that might change.<\/p>\n
Mr Boyd said he understood the frustration within the community about the cinema.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause it exists within a licenced venue, as soon as we open the doors we have minimum staffing and shift requirements,\u201d Mr Boyd said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo have one session, there\u2019s a minimum of two staff required, and the minimum shift is two hours.<\/p>\n
\u201cReally, they\u2019re there for closer to three, by the time they get everybody tickets, popcorn and drinks, then clean up afterwards, and historically it wasn\u2019t particularly well attended.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s something that needs to operate while the surrounding building is already operating for it to be sustainable.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully it will come back, and we\u2019re trying to figure out how that could happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club hosted a two-day golf tournament over the Easter weekend, with a couple more on the cards throughout April.<\/p>\n
Sunday, April 12 and 19 will see the Masters 2-man Ambrose, sponsored by TH Kitchens and Davidson White Accounting, take to the course.<\/p>\n
Entry tickets, which include drinks vouchers and BBQ lunch on the days, are still available through the pro shop.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, April 22, the Chomley-Davidson Bowl will take to the course.<\/p>\n
A small team ladies\u2019 tournament can be inquired about via the golf club email at golfoperations@corowagolfclub.com.au.<\/p>\n
Entry for the 9am shotgun start event includes a light lunch.<\/p>\n
Every Sunday, a different format of golf, such as 2-man Ambrose, will be played to keep people interested and to get the people less serious about golf to the course in a more social form of competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything we\u2019re doing is pre-approved by the proposed administrator,\u201d Mr Boyd said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce they take over it should still continue, but once they finish their process, we don\u2019t know what the future after that looks like.<\/p>\n
