{"id":594759,"date":"2026-04-09T03:08:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T03:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/594759\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T03:08:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T03:08:14","slug":"anthony-stolarz-leaves-maple-leafs-game-with-lower-body-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/594759\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthony Stolarz leaves Maple Leafs&#8217; game with lower-body injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO &#8212; <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"5aa11fc5-b122-f21a-1ddb-a63c5b3dddee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/tor\/toronto-maple-leafs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maple Leafs<\/a> goaltender <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/3067313\/anthony-stolarz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Stolarz<\/a> left Wednesday&#8217;s game against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/wsh\/washington-capitals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Capitals<\/a> early in the first period with a lower-body injury.<\/p>\n<p>The Toronto starter was hurt after stretching out his left leg to get a pad on <a data-player-guid=\"6e250bde-a11d-3269-8cea-17544f06d068\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/5216918\/cole-hutson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Hutson<\/a>&#8216;s shot from distance.<\/p>\n<p>Stolarz immediately collapsed to the ice and pulled off his mask before one of the referees blew the play dead.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old was attended to by a trainer and had to be helped off the ice by teammates before heading down the tunnel to the locker room.<\/p>\n<p>Stolarz, who missed significant time with an upper-body injury in the fall and has had trouble staying healthy throughout his time in Toronto, is 10-10-3 with a .892 save percentage and a 3.29 goals-against average in 2025-26.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/4271575\/joseph-woll\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Woll<\/a> replaced Stolarz for the Maple Leafs, who are set to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
