{"id":594845,"date":"2026-04-09T04:01:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T04:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/594845\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T04:01:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T04:01:07","slug":"blues-mustard-megna-pro-hockey-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/594845\/","title":{"rendered":"Blues, Mustard, Megna \u2013 Pro Hockey Rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"byline\">\n  By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/author\/brianlarose\" title=\"Posts by Brian La Rose\" rel=\"author nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brian La Rose<\/a> |<br \/>\n  at April 8, 2026 7:55 pm  <\/p>\n<p>As St. Louis continues its front office shakeup, a pair of executives have received additional duties.\u00a0 The Blues <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/blues\/news\/blues-announce-thunderbirds-leadership-change\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> today that assistant GMs Ryan Miller and Tim Taylor will take on co-GM duties for their AHL affiliate in Springfield.\u00a0 Miller (no relation to the former goalie with the same name) has been with the team since 2010 and is currently in charge of contract negotiations, CBA compliance, and other similar functions.\u00a0 Taylor, meanwhile, will continue to oversee player personnel.\u00a0 The two will replace Kevin Maxwell who <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2026\/03\/peter-chiarelli-kevin-maxwell-departing-blues-front-office.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">departed<\/a> the team last month to join the Rangers.\u00a0 Veteran Peter Chiarelli also departed last month while Alex Steen will take over as GM from Doug Armstrong in July as the front office will be structured differently in 2026-27.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the Central:<\/p>\n<p>While the Blackhawks have brought some prospects up in recent weeks, one player who won\u2019t be joining them is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/737981\/john-mustard\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">John Mustard<\/a>. Scott Powers of The Athletic reports (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ByScottPowers\/status\/2041981645587140805\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter link<\/a>) that the 19-year-old intends to return to college for his junior year.\u00a0 Mustard, a third-round pick back in 2024 (67th overall), had a productive year with Providence, picking up 17 goals and 12 assists in 36 games.\u00a0 While he likely wouldn\u2019t have been a candidate to make the jump to the NHL full-time next season, he almost certainly would have been able to lock down a regular role with AHL Rockford.\u00a0 Instead, he\u2019ll return to the Friars and could be a candidate to sign after his 2026-27 season ends.<br \/>\nVeteran forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/megnaja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jayson Megna<\/a> will be sticking around in the Avalanche\u2019s organization for another year.
