Liverpool<\/a> are heading for a dismal end to the season after their latest 2-0 defeat away at Paris Saint-Germain. <\/p>\n

It’s been a horrid campaign for the Merseyside club, but the Champions League was a chance for them to grasp a silver lining from the season.<\/p>\n

Although the tie is far from over, the manner of the defeat will be disappointing to the Liverpool hierarchy, failing to register a shot on target, while PSG were perhaps unfortunate not to score more.<\/p>\n

That means it’s now five defeats in a row on the road for Liverpool, and if their form continues like this, they are going to end the season without a trophy and may even fail to qualify for the Champions League. <\/p>\n

Liverpool are likely to wait until the end of the season to make a decision on Slot, but they might be forced to make a change as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

There’s no point wasting time, as it’s clear that Slot is on thin ice and is unlikely to be in charge next season.<\/p>\n

The fans are turning on the manager, and it’s only heading one way, so there’s little reason for them to continue.<\/p>\n

Liverpool Set to Move for Alonso<\/p>\n

Xabi Alonso, described as ‘elite’<\/a>, has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid earlier in the season, but he’s been heavily linked with a move to Anfield. <\/p>\n

According to Football Insider, Alonso is the favourite to take over<\/a>, and Liverpool are set to make the move to appoint him, whether that be now or in the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, Xabi Alonso, to me, is still the favourite to take over. I think the dream of Jurgen coming back is a bit of a big dream, but it would obviously be the go-to fantastic solution that would perk the Liverpool fans up.<\/p>\n
