Carlos Ulberg has revealed his desire to try and lure Alex Pereira back to the light heavyweight division with a win at UFC 327.<\/p>\n

For a good few years now, Carlos Ulberg has been slowly but surely building himself up to the championship level at light heavyweight. On Saturday night, he will finally get his chance to hold the gold when he goes head to head<\/a> with Jiri Prochazka for the vacant belt.<\/p>\n

In Ulberg\u2019s ideal world, of course, he would have faced Alex Pereira, the previous champion. Unfortunately, \u2018Poatan\u2019 made the decision to move up to the heavyweight division as he chases history by trying to become the first ever three-weight world champion in UFC history.<\/p>\n

In a pre-fight media scrum, Ulberg had the following to say about his hope to one day compete against Pereira.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ulberg reveals Pereira plan<\/p>\n

\u201cI would\u2019ve loved to have fought the champion because that would\u2019ve etched me to be the best,\u201d Ulberg told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday\u2019s UFC 327 media day. \u201cHe is the man right now, and he is definitely the guy that I wanted to fight for that title.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it could (bring him back),\u201d Ulberg said. \u201cI think a win here, a dominant win here could definitely lure Pereira back to the division and test himself, as well. \u2026 He\u2019s the man at the moment and to be the man you\u2019ve got to beat the man. If you want to be the best, you\u2019ve got to beat him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s definitely the guy that I\u2019ve been keeping a close eye on and wanting that fight because I know that would be the fight to make happen. It is always focusing on me and what\u2019s at hand and in front of me.\u201d<\/p>\n
