It’s April and the NFL Draft is only two weeks away, but the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> still don’t have a starting quarterback for next season.<\/p>\n

It sounds like they’re expecting it to be Aaron Rodgers, who is still debating<\/a> whether he wants to return, retire or play elsewhere after spending 2025 with the Steelers.<\/p>\n

Most of the signs over the last few months have pointed toward Rodgers returning, which still seems likely based on Mike Silver’s update<\/a> for Yahoo Sports Daily on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers have been talking about this. I think the Steelers organizationally are reasonably upbeat about the possibility of Aaron coming back and playing another season,” Silver said, adding that team owner Art Rooney Jr. expects Rodgers to make a decision before the NFL Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That said, Pittsburgh doesn’t have a good backup plan<\/a> in place if Rodgers doesn’t return, as Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are the only quarterbacks on the Steelers’ roster at the moment.<\/p>\n

“They still don’t really have a great option for 2026 if Aaron says no or if he says, ‘You know what, I need a few more months,'” Silver added. “So, cautious optimism in the building that Aaron Rodgers will come back.”<\/p>\n

After watching Rodgers win two MVP awards and a Super Bowl for McCarthy with the Green Bay Packers, Silver would love to see them reunite in Pittsburgh<\/a> and pursue another title together.<\/p>\n

“I’d love to see it. It’s been an amazing ride covering him all these years, and maybe Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers have one more hit single together,” Silver concluded.<\/p>\n

The Steelers have done a good job improving their roster<\/a> this offseason, so time will tell.<\/p>\n
