Even years seem to be the charm for Scheffler at the Masters. He won at Augusta National in both 2022 and 2024, which might be a good omen for his chances in 2026.

Here’s a look at every golfer to win the Masters three or more times.

Who has won the Masters three times?

Eight players have won the Masters three or more times:

Jack Nicklaus, 6

No golfer has won the Masters more than Nicklaus, whose first and sixth green jackets came 23 years apart. Nicklaus won three times in his 20s, claiming titles in 1963, 1965 and 1966, and he added to his totals even as he got older with with wins in 1972 and 1975. Though he already had the record for most wins at the time Nicklaus remains the oldest player to ever win the Masters after winning at age 46 in 1986.

Tiger Woods, 5

It looked like Nicklaus’ record might fall when Tiger Woods rattled off four wins before turning 30, but Woods would only add one more green jacket in 2019 as the next stage of his career was dominated by chronic injury and personal struggles. Still, Woods turned in some of the most dominant performances in Masters history, becoming the youngest to ever win at age 21 in 1997 and adding green jackets in 2001, 2002 and 2005 before the ultimate comeback story was completed in 2019.

Arnold Palmer, 4

Even years also treated Arnold Palmer well in Augusta, as he won the Masters in 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964 to become the all-time leader in the event until Nicklaus won his fifth in 1975.

Jimmy Demaret was the first three-time Masters champion, winning in 1940, 1947 and 1950. Demaret never won another major, but three wins at Augusta National were enough to secure him a place in golf history.

Sam Snead, 3

Snead was the second to join Demaret as a three-time winner, but his success came at a later point in his career than some of his fellow green jacket winners. Snead won the Masters for the first time in 1949 at age 36, and he followed it up with wins in 1952 and at 41 in 1954.

Gary Player, 3

Still a regular part of Masters weekend even without playing in the tournament, Gary Player went 13 years before his first and second Masters wins but made history with a third in 1978. Player first won in 1961 at age 25, but it wasn’t until 1974 that he found his way to a second green jacket. When he won in 1978, Player became the fifth golfer to win the Masters at least three times.

Nick Faldo, 3

An Open Championship winner in 1987, Nick Faldo catapulted himself to stardom with back-to-back Masters wins in 1989 and 1990. He added a third green jacket in 1996, giving him three Masters wins in a span of eight years and a piece of history.

Phil Mickelson, 3

Phil Mickelson is the most recent player to win his third green jacket, as he won in 2004 and 2006 before pulling in front of Lee Westwood during the final round in 2010 and claiming another victory. Mickelson would later become the oldest player to win a major when he won the 2021 PGA Championship.
