{"id":596922,"date":"2026-04-10T01:55:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T01:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/596922\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T01:55:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T01:55:10","slug":"hainan-hopes-to-make-formula-1-race-its-core-engine-as-it-develops-automotive-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/596922\/","title":{"rendered":"Hainan hopes to make Formula 1 race its \u2018core engine\u2019 as it develops \u2018automotive culture\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Hainan\u2019s local government has signalled its intention to bring a Formula 1 race to the southern island, after it unveiled development plans aimed at securing motorsport\u2019s premier event for the province.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Announcing a partnership with Dingji Automotive Culture Co, the Hainan Provincial International Cultural Exchange Centre said the cooperation would focus on \u201cbringing Formula 1 racing events to Hainan, planning and building professional circuits, developing commercial race operations, creating an integrated automotive culture complex and promoting deep integration of sports, culture and tourism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">According to the centre, a department of the province\u2019s tourism, culture and sports bureau, the F1 project would \u201ctake Formula One\u2019s top-tier international races as its core engine\u201d and include facilities such as \u201ca circuit, car modification plants, racing training schools, comprehensive medical services and five-star hotels\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The island hosted the Sanya ePrix, part of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, during the 2018-19 season.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The highest-class single-seater race for electric cars will return this June at the Haitang Bay Circuit, a 2.236km temporary street circuit with 11 corners, located 24km from Sanya.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Shanghai holds the exclusive rights to the Chinese Grand Prix until at least 2030.
