{"id":597789,"date":"2026-04-10T11:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/597789\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T11:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:40:09","slug":"pedro-acosta-could-rejuvenate-marc-marquez-like-lorenzo-alongside-valentino-rossi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/597789\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedro Acosta could \u201crejuvenate\u201d Marc Marquez like Lorenzo alongside Valentino Rossi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Livio Suppo has compared Pedro Acosta\u2019s expected move alongside Marc Marquez at Ducati next season to Yamaha\u2019s legendary Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo line-up.<\/p>\n<p>With uncertainty over how long Rossi would continue in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> MotoGP<\/a>, Yamaha signed rising star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1558\/jorge-lorenzo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lorenzo <\/a>to replace Colin Edwards as his team-mate for 2008.<\/p>\n<p>The move created tension within the garage, famously split by a wall due to different tyre suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi had dominated Yamaha\u2019s success between 2004 and 2007, taking 29 victories and two MotoGP titles.<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzo quickly emerged as a challenger, winning in just his third MotoGP race.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1999\/valentino-rossi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rossi<\/a> rose to the challenge, securing back-to-back MotoGP titles in 2008 and 2009.<\/p>\n<p>2010 was shaping up to be another Rossi-Lorenzo championship showdown, until the Italian broke his leg at Mugello.<\/p>\n<p>After two tough seasons at Ducati, Rossi was then reunited with Lorenzo at Yamaha in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The pair continued to push each other &#8211;
