MIAMI (United States) \u2013 The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers are not only the pathway to the sport\u2019s biggest international stage, but also a key platform for regional talent to shine. Norchad Omier<\/a> (Nicaragua), \u00c1lex Morales<\/a> (Puerto Rico) and Andersson Garc\u00eda<\/a> (Dominican Republic) are now clear examples of turning their standout performances with their national teams into concrete NBA opportunities.<\/p>\n

Omier and Morales were key figures during the first window held in November 2025, while Garc\u00eda did the same in the second window in March 2026. All three left their mark as the most efficient players on their respective teams.<\/p>\n

Omier posted outstanding numbers, averaging 23.0 points, 17.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists, with an efficiency rating of 28.0 in two matchups against the United States last November. Morales, representing Puerto Rico, contributed 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists (18.0 efficiency) against Jamaica, also in November 2025. Meanwhile, Garc\u00eda recorded 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds for an efficiency of 18.5 with the Dominican Republic in the March games against United States and Nicaragua.<\/p>\n

That international production was complemented by strong performances in the G League, ultimately opening the door to the NBA.<\/p>\n

Omier excelled with the Cleveland Charge, where he averaged 20.0 points and 11.9 rebounds before securing a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on February 20. Since then, he has split time between the main roster and its affiliate, the San Diego Clippers.<\/p>\n

Morales also capitalized on his consistency in the G League with the Osceola Magic, posting 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. His performance earned him a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic on February 17.<\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda, who is listed by FIBA as Andersson Mej\u00eda, established himself with the Mexico City Capitanes, averaging 11.5 points and 10.7 rebounds, which led to a 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz on March 11.<\/p>\n

In their first NBA experiences, all three have begun to make their way. So far, with three days remaining in the regular season, Omier has appeared in five games with the Clippers (3.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 4.4 minutes). Morales has played three games with the Magic (2.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 6.0 minutes). Then Garc\u00eda, during his 10-day stint in Utah, appeared in five games, including two starts (5.2 points and 8.4 rebounds in 33.8 minutes).<\/p>\n

Beyond the early numbers, their journey shows that competing and excelling on the international stage can have a significant impact on one\u2019s trajectory. This, combined with development at the club level, can be the key to building a path to the elite.<\/p>\n
