AusCycling is delighted to announce that Brisbane has secured multiple headline international cycling events for 2028, further establishing the city as a premier destination for global competition, major events and active lifestyles.<\/p>\n
The Queensland capital will welcome the world\u2019s best track cyclists and BMX racing athletes when it hosts a round of the UCI Track World Cup and two rounds of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup in February 2028.<\/p>\n
The track competition will be staged at the world-class Anna Meares Velodrome, while the Brisbane SX International BMX Centre next door will host elite international athletes and fans for two rounds of top-level BMX racing.<\/p>\n

The expanded cycling schedule is a major coup for AusCycling as it gets set to host the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships<\/a> in Brisbane this July.<\/p>\n Together, the events are expected to attract the world\u2019s top Olympic hopefuls as they prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics, positioning Brisbane and Queensland as a critical stop on the international cycling calendar during a key Olympic qualification period.<\/p>\n AusCycling Chief Executive Officer, Marne Fechner, said she was thrilled that Australia continues to secure world-class events.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Brisbane and Australia to the world,\u201d Ms Fechner said. \u201cWith the best riders descending on these shores more regularly as we build towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, it\u2019s great for our elite riders, but also our emerging stars and of course our fans, who get the chance to watch the world\u2019s best riders compete up close.\u201d<\/p>\n Brisbane has been awarded the UCI Bike City label.
