Second time lucky for Bailey Smith<\/p>\n
That was lucky for the Cats!<\/p>\n
They got the ball through the middle, and Bailey Smith kicked on the run – it went wide for a point, but he was given a second chance!<\/p>\n
Smith was shoved after the kick, and the umps picked out a free.<\/p>\n
It was second time lucky as he boomed a right to left kick from 50. The Cats lead again!<\/p>\n

They get the ball on the wing and send it inside 50, where Shannon Neale stands his ground and take a brilliant contested mark.<\/p>\n
And he drills the kick! Scores are level again in time on.<\/p>\n

An interesting first quarter here, with West Coast leading the forward 50 entries 12-8.<\/p>\n
They’re not able to take advantage of all of them, but it’s a solid platform.<\/p>\n

They went down the right to Waterman, who then switched into the middle.<\/p>\n
The handball went out before a lovely chip to Matthew Owies just inside 50.<\/p>\n
He goes back and kicks it through!<\/p>\n
West Coast are ahead again.<\/p>\n

The standout stat early doors is the clearances.<\/p>\n
The Cats lead clearances 7-0, and centre clearances 3-0.<\/p>\n
Not sure what the Eagles can do to redress this, but if that keeps going there will be problems.<\/p>\n

Waterman levels with another miss<\/p>\n
This breeze is causing some serious issues, particularly for Jake Waterman.<\/p>\n
He’s marked on right side of 50, and this time he starts it middle or a little left – but the ball gets whisked away to the right for another behind.<\/p>\n
The Eagles are right in this, but they have to try to take more of their chances.<\/p>\n

The goalkicking is not great so far, with the Cats missing from Ollie Dempsey and Shaun Mannagh.<\/p>\n

A forward 50 stoppage saw James Worpel feed the handball to Brad Close, who chipped inbound for Ollie Wiltshire, who marked and kicked the goal.<\/p>\n
The Eagles lead by two points.<\/p>\n

Ollie Henry misses for the Cats<\/p>\n
The Cats have been under pressure, but they’ve just shown their abilities on the burst.<\/p>\n
Gryan Miers grabbed a turnover and raced downfield, the ball went to Ollie Dempsey and eventually to Ollie Henry in the pocket.<\/p>\n
His kick went across the face against the breeze, and out for a point.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are bringing the pressure here, and the ball went inside 50 – Jake Kolodjashnij ran the ball over from about a metre out, and he’s pinged.<\/p>\n
To be fair he was under no pressure from anyone near him.<\/p>\n
Now Jake Waterman had a chance here – but he’s hooked it from the left side of the posts.<\/p>\n
It’s 0.2 to no score.<\/p>\n

West Coast have started strongly, with an early clearance.<\/p>\n
Harley Reid got the ball and sent it to Jake Waterman inside 50.<\/p>\n
The man with the mullet lines up, but just like yesterday’s game, his kick stays right rather than coming back in.<\/p>\n
It’s a point.<\/p>\n

The Cats have made those changes to rest players, and we still haven’t seen the return of skipper Patrick Dangerfield.<\/p>\n
Is that because of the opposition, or is Danger still having real problems with his calf?<\/p>\n
For the Eagles, they can’t afford to start slow again – will they come out with fire?<\/p>\n
And if Oisin Mullin goes to Harley Reid, will the West Coast young gun cope, or will he get angry like last week?<\/p>\n
All these questions are relevant, and we’ll get some answers over the next four quarters.<\/p>\n

Recent history doesn’t give a lot of promise for the Eagles, with Geelong winning the last six encounters by an average margin of just under 64 points.<\/p>\n
Going further back, West Coast has won three of the last 11 games against the Cats.<\/p>\n

Eagles turn the clock back with Gather Round colours<\/p>\n
Teams have taken different approaches to their Gather Round guernseys.<\/p>\n
Some have stuck with the traditional colours but added a swoopy S (hello St Kilda), others have taken a new darker colour but the kangaroo (North Melbourne) or a “fully charged” strip with colours reversed (watch out for Port Adelaide later).<\/p>\n
The Eagles have decided to fully turn the clock back … to 2000, with the return of the ochre guernsey.<\/p>\n
This colour scheme had mixed reactions in its original form, but since everything old is new again as the song says, West Coast have brought it back for Gather Round edition four.<\/p>\n
Will it give them some extra run? Maybe not, but it will certainly stand out at Norwood.<\/p>\n
The banner even buys into it: “Love it or hate, still up for debate”.<\/p>\n

For West Coast, there are three changes to the side that was thrashed by 128 points by Sydney last week.<\/p>\n
Ruckman Matt Flynn is omitted, along with young small forward Malakai Champion, while Jamie Cripps has been managed.<\/p>\n
Into the side are Bailey Williams, Elijah Hewett and Deven Robertson who returns from suspension.<\/p>\n
Geelong makes three changes, all managed. Jack Martin, Jack Henry and Mark Blicavs are given the week off.<\/p>\n
Into the side come Irishman Mark O’Connor, new recruit James Worpel (who plays his 150th AFL game) and Jake Kolodjashnij.<\/p>\n

Hello, good afternoon and welcome to ABC’s live online coverage of the AFL’s Gather Round.<\/p>\n
Here we are, back for the final day of the festival of footy.<\/p>\n
We start off at the old Norwood Oval once more, for Geelong taking on West Coast with both teams coming off vastly different losses last week.<\/p>\n
Next we head out to the Barossa, for GWS (boosted by several big-name returns) against Richmond at Lyndoch.<\/p>\n
Then we come back to the city to wrap things up, as Port Adelaide faces St Kilda and the $2 million man, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.<\/p>\n
I’m Andrew McGarry, and I’ll be taking you through the early stages before handing over to Luke Pentony.<\/p>\n
