\nSaint Francis Women’s tennis ends NEC play on a high note, after sweeping the Skyhawks in singles competition on Saturday afternoon at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts in North Easton, Mass.<\/p>\n
HOW IT HAPPENED For the fourth time this season, Saint Francis swept all six singles matches in a dual. The Red Flash began their run on court one with Dasha Chichkina<\/a>, who extended her singles win streak to eight with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. On courts two and three, Dowuona and Lynn battled through lengthy three-set matches, posting finals of 6-3, 6-7, 7-3 and 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, respectively. On courts four and five, Almanza and junior Reagen Mangan<\/a> kept their opponents at a comfortable distance, winning by scores of 6-4, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-1. Rounding out the team’s strong day was sophomore Morgan Tuffs<\/a>, who claimed her 12th victory of the year with a 7-5, 6-3 result.<\/p>\n FLASH NUGGETS\u00a0 With today’s victory, Helena now has 24 wins this season, tying Dowuona and Chichkina for the second-most wins in a single season, a mark set just last year. \nDespite a rare defeat in doubles competition, senior Kelly Dowuona<\/a> and freshman Gabriela Almanza<\/a> kept things interesting by winning their match on court two, 6-3.<\/p>\n
\nAlong with teammate Chichkina, Mangan’s victory extended her winning streak to seven matches.<\/p>\n
\nSaint Francis Women’s tennis is back in action tomorrow, April 12, as they travel to upstate New York to take on Siena at the Siena Tennis Center in Albany, NY, with a 1:15 pm start.<\/p>\n
