{"id":601830,"date":"2026-04-12T10:03:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T10:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/601830\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T10:03:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T10:03:19","slug":"supercars-to-open-parity-investigation-triggered-by-toyota-chevrolet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/601830\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars to open parity investigation triggered by Toyota, Chevrolet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SUPERCARS\u2019 new parity system has been triggered into action after just three rounds.<\/p>\n<p>V8 Sleuth sources have confirmed that a technical parity investigation has been triggered by both the Camaro and Supra, amid Ford\u2019s flying start to the season.<\/p>\n<p>Through nine races, seven have been won by Ford versus one each for Chevrolet and Toyota.<\/p>\n<p>The podium counts read Ford 22, Toyota four, Chevrolet one.<\/p>\n<p>V8 Sleuth broke the news on Friday that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/chevrolet-gearing-up-for-supercars-parity-tweak\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">General Motors had moved to design parts including updated rear wing endplates in anticipation of the parity trigger being hit in Taup\u014d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-3?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/v8sleuth-mag-issue3_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The commencement of a parity adjustment process does not necessarily mean a tweak will be made, however.<\/p>\n<p>Per the rules, chief motorsport officer Tim Edwards must now consult with the homologation teams (Triple Eight\/Ford, Team 18\/Chevrolet, Walkinshaw TWG Racing\/Toyota) and may do any of the following:<\/p>\n<p>Consult with category technical director Perry Kapper, the technical working group, or other experts;<\/p>\n<p>Arrange test days to evaluate any proposed changes;<\/p>\n<p>Conduct further validation\/correlation work away from the track;<\/p>\n<p>Recommend either a parity adjustment be made or not be made.<\/p>\n<p>Whether such work will be able to be performed while the category is overseas \u2013 i.e. before next week\u2019s Christchurch Super440 \u2013 is not yet clear.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, the fact that an investigation has been triggered so soon has raised eyebrows, given it was just four months ago that Supercars completed high-level aero testing at the Windshear wind tunnel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/supercars-teams-hail-aero-parity-minor-miracle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after which all parties spruiked the reaching of parity.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because after all, Supercars is a formula based on technical parity, not sporting parity (e.g. Balance of Performance).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-falcon-chronicles-eb-ef-el-au-book?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/falcon-chronicles_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/ex-supercars-tech-chief-questions-centre-of-gravity-test\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chevrolet did however question the Centre of Gravity testing process<\/a> which took place in February shortly prior to Round 1.<\/p>\n<p>More thorough engine work is set to occur later in the year too, once Toyota has refined its package.<\/p>\n<p>Chevrolet dominated the first two seasons of the Gen3 era before Ford claimed both the major prizes (the championship and Bathurst 1000) in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Oval has since welcomed powerhouse Triple Eight into its fold; the Mustang is now the most represented car in the field, accounting for 11 of the 24 full-time entries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SUPERCARS\u2019 new parity system has been triggered into action after just three rounds.
