{"id":601878,"date":"2026-04-12T10:41:29","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T10:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/601878\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T10:41:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T10:41:29","slug":"most-folks-dont-touch-akaun-fleksibel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/601878\/","title":{"rendered":"Most folks don\u2019t touch Akaun Fleksibel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PETALING JAYA: The majority of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members who were eligible to make withdrawals from their Akaun Fleksibel opted not to do so up to October of last year.<\/p>\n<p>EPF\u2019s research report \u201cEnduring Today, Shaping Tomorrow: Akaun Fleksibel as a Financial Lifeline for Wellbeing\u201d stated that about 63% or 8.4 million people have left the funds untouched.<\/p>\n<p>It said that 44% had a sufficient balance in the account, while 56% were unable to withdraw money because of insufficient balance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout 37%, or five million members, have made at least one withdrawal between May 2024 and October last year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.thestar.com.my\/Content\/Images\/MAIN_AHB_-iphepf100426_202604120854.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"CLICK TO ENLARGE\" src=\"https:\/\/apicms.thestar.com.my\/uploads\/images\/2026\/04\/11\/3854639.jpg\" onerror=\"this.src=\" https:=\"\" style=\"width: 620px; height: 667px;\"\/>CLICK TO ENLARGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe total amount was about RM16.6bil,\u201d it said, adding that there were about 13.3 million eligible members.<\/p>\n<p>The report also highlighted that about 4.1 million individuals transferred a total of RM14.5bil from their Akaun Sejahtera to Akaun Fleksibel during the one-time fund transfer option between May 11 and Aug 31, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd by October last year, 81% of those who made withdrawals had less than RM500 left in their Akaun Fleksibel, while 6.2% had fully depleted their balances,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>Akaun Fleksibel was launched in May 2024 to allow members to withdraw their funds at any time, provided they have a sufficient amount.<\/p>\n<p>The report also indicated that members earning less than RM3,000 per month accounted for the largest proportion of withdrawals, at 51.1%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA survey found that withdrawals by 14,204 members from Akaun Fleksibel between May 2024 and June 2025 were largely for essential needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese included daily necessities, health-related expenses, emergencies, debt and investment obligations, and seasonal or lifestyle spending,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PETALING JAYA: The majority of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members who were eligible to make withdrawals from their&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":601879,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[249822,206366,64,63,99,35787,293315,186,293310,293311,293314,184,185,293313,293312,71105],"class_list":{"0":"post-601878","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-personal-finance","8":"tag-akaun-fleksibel","9":"tag-akaun-sejahtera","10":"tag-au","11":"tag-australia","12":"tag-business","13":"tag-epf","14":"tag-essential-needs","15":"tag-finance","16":"tag-financial-wellbeing","17":"tag-insufficient-balance","18":"tag-may-2024","19":"tag-personal-finance","20":"tag-personalfinance","21":"tag-rm14-5bil","22":"tag-rm16-6bil","23":"tag-withdrawals"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/601878","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=601878"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/601878\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/601879"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=601878"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=601878"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=601878"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
