Bodyguard (Netflix)<\/p>\n
This tense six-part thriller has many of the elements that make The Capture so compelling \u2014 conspiracy, technology and the corridors of power. From Jed Mercurio, the creator of Line of Duty, the series stars Richard Madden as the police sergeant David Budd, an army veteran with PTSD assigned as the close protection officer to the ambitious and controversial home secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes). He despises her policies, so has divided loyalties as the tense drama unfolds.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tehran (Apple TV)<\/p>\n
Apple TV\u2019s Israeli spy thriller has been a sleeper hit for the streaming service, winning many fans across three seasons. The show is about a young Israeli Mossad agent and computer hacker who was born in Iran but raised in Israel. She is sent on a deep-cover mission to return to Iran and attempt to sabotage a nuclear reactor in Tehran. Politics, espionage and technology combine to make for a superb drama that features big-name stars in later series, including Glenn Close and Hugh Laurie.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Undeclared War (4 streaming)<\/p>\n

Peter Kosminsky\u2019s six-part drama may be set in the near-future but the themes with which it deals are familiar. A thriller set around the two main characters, Saara Parvin (Hannah Khalique-Brown) in the UK and Vadim Trusov (German Segal) in Russia, during a cyber misinformation attack on the UK. The compelling show \u2014 which will return for a second series \u2014 leans hard into themes that are explored in The Capture and are becoming more relevant to all our lives as technology develops. <\/p>\n
Devs (Disney+)<\/p>\n
While this excellent show created by Alex Garland is less concerned with government and more the technology, Devs is a celebrated sci-fi series that tackles similar themes and asks questions about the role of technology in our lives, personal freedom and surveillance. It follows the story of Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno), a software engineer who works for a cutting-edge computing company. When her boyfriend goes missing while working for the company she becomes drawn into a mystery that will have her questioning everything she thinks she knows.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr Robot (Prime Video)<\/p>\n
Starring the Oscar-winner Rami Malek, this psychological thriller based around technology is about the plight of Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity expert and hacker with anxiety, depression and dissociative identity disorder. When he is recruited by an anarchist known as Mr Robot (played by Christian Slater), who is assembling a group of \u201chacktivists\u201d to eliminate all debt by hacking the largest conglomerate in the world, his life quickly spirals further out of control as he\u2019s drawn into a dark and troubling world.<\/p>\n
Black Mirror (Netflix)<\/p>\n
Want another thriller that explores the terrifying way technology might intersect with our lives? Try Charlie Brooker\u2019s excellent anthology series that built a loyal audience on Channel 4 before heading to the streaming giant Netflix in 2016. Featuring guest appearances from some of the biggest names in TV and film, from Salma Hayek to Jesse Plemons, each episode is a cautionary tale of how technology might change the world. Those who were shocked by The Capture, prepare yourselves. This is at another level.<\/p>\n
