\n\tIn October, Justin Bieber<\/a> went live on Twitch with some teasers for his fans. \u201cI\u2019m putting on a hell of a show for you guys for Coachella<\/a>, getting ready, and getting inspired,\u201d he said about his headlining performance at the festival. On Saturday night, Bieber followed through with a set that featured an appearance from the Kid Laroi, who joined him for \u201cStay\u201d<\/a> and he later invited Dijon<\/a> to the stage, as well as a few other special guests.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Kid Laroi<\/a> discussed their relationship and Bieber\u2019s positivity in 2024 with Rolling Stone. \u201cHe\u2019s just a really special human being. He has no ego when it comes to supporting me,\u201d Laroi said<\/a>. \u201cNot everyone\u2019s like him. He\u2019s very giving and he wants to offer everything that he has to help me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBieber and Dijon performed their Swag collaboration \u201cDevotion\u201d during a particularly warm moment in the set. The musician was an essential collaborator on the record and completed his own set at Coachella on Friday night. Another artist who appears in the credits of the album, Mk.gee<\/a>, joined Bieber at the very end of his performance to play bass guitar on \u201cDaisies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThere were quite a few collaborations in the medley of songs Bieber played during the show \u2014 like the Jaden Smith-assisted classic \u201cNever Say Never,\u201d \u201cConfident,\u201d which features Chance the Rapper,\u201d as well as \u201cBeauty and a Beat,\u201d which features Nicki Minaj, and \u201cWhere Are \u00dc Now,\u201d which he created with Diplo and Skrillex. But Bieber had other artists in mind when deciding who to bring to the stage.<\/p>\n

\n\tTowards the end of the set, Tems<\/a> appeared for the first live performance of \u201cI Think You\u2019re Special,\u201d which appeared on Swag II. The pair of artists previously collaborated in Bieber\u2019s remix of WizKid<\/a>\u2018s \u201cEssence,\u201d released in 2021. It was only right, then, that the Nigerian star join them to perform it. <\/p>\n

\n\tBieber teased his headlining set with a preview performance at the Roxy in Los Angeles just over a week before the festival. It marked Bieber\u2019s first U.S. concert in four years. The invite-only, no-phones gig found the musician performing music from last year\u2019s double-album releases, Swag and Swag II.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSwag definitely makes it clear that Bieber\u2019s got issues \u2014 his issues have issues,\u201d Rolling Stone <\/a>wrote in a review of the record. \u201cBut he channels it all into some of the most genuinely creative and wide-ranging music of his life. \u2018You can\u2019t spread your wings in a bird cage,\u2019 as he sings in \u2018First Place.\u2019 But all over Swag, he\u2019s taking flight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of the album, a source close to the musician told Rolling Stone<\/a> about the newfound creative control he secured on the record, calling it \u201cthe purest form\u201d of Bieber we\u2019ve ever seen. \u201cHaving full creative freedom, sadly, is something new for him as an artist,\u201d the source said. \u201cNot having to stress about creating the perfect single, or perfect album allowed for him to create the best body of music he\u2019s ever made.\u201d <\/p>\n
