She expects the language barrier to be a challenge, but one she\u2019s ready to tackle.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll learn a few key words and I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll pick it up as I go,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
The stint will last around five months before she returns to Hamilton for the New Zealand season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got a return date. If I want to go back [to the Netherlands], I can, but having an end date definitely helps [with homesickness]. When I start missing home, I know [going home] it\u2019s not too far away.\u201d <\/p>\n
A breakout season at home <\/p>\n
Hunt\u2019s 2025\u201326 domestic season has been one of growth and momentum.<\/p>\n
She featured in the Hamilton Women\u2019s Representative side, where competition intensified as District Association cricket ramped up and several Northern Brave players returned to help bolster the level of play. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe had quite a few games for the Hamilton Reps. The DA competitions really started taking off,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe even had the newest White Fern, Kayley Knight, play for Hamilton. Competing alongside players at that next level has been really cool.\u201d <\/p>\n
Hunt also notched several early\u2011season appearances for Northern Districts A, rounding out a demanding but rewarding summer. <\/p>\n
Reinventing her game <\/p>\n
In a significant shift, Hunt recently decided to transition from pace bowling to off\u2011spin, a move she admits has been more challenging than expected.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith pace, you\u2019re running in straight and pushing the ball through. With spin, everything changes: your wrist position, your body alignment, your back foot has to be sideways. It\u2019s actually a lot harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

She credits former Black Cap and ND player Anton Devcich for helping her adjust.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been picking his brain over the last couple of weeks. I\u2019ve enjoyed the new challenge.\u201d <\/p>\n
A growing leader in the game <\/p>\n
Off the field, Hunt has earned a reputation as a dedicated coach and mentor for young Waikato cricketers.<\/p>\n
From clinics to representative coaching, she has helped shape the region\u2019s next generation of players. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe resources kids have now are quadruple what they were when I was coming through,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they want it, they can have it. The doors are open, they just have to commit.\u201d <\/p>\n
As a schoolgirl, cricket wasn\u2019t even on her radar as a career path.<\/p>\n
\u201cCricket was never really going to be a thing for me. I grew up watching the Black Caps with Dad, but nothing crazy. Once I started playing, it just took off, and now I can\u2019t imagine life without it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though she\u2019ll be missed around Seddon Park and the Hamilton cricket scene, Hunt said the timing is perfect for her overseas opportunity. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the adventure of a lifetime,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll be back, but I\u2019m going to make the most of every moment while I\u2019m over there.\u201d<\/p>\n
