Britney Spears<\/a>\u00a0has entered a rehab facility to seek treatment for substance abuse issues following her DUI arrest.<\/p>\n

Her representative confirmed the rehab stint on Sunday to Us Weekly<\/a>, after Celebrity Intelligence<\/a> was the first to break the news about Spears, 44.<\/p>\n

‘She realizes she hit rock bottom,’ an insider told\u00a0TMZ<\/a>\u00a0of the Grammy-winning pop star’s decision to seek help, amid pressure from her inner circle<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Spears has had yearslong issues with substances such as alcohol and the ADHD medication Adderall,<\/a>\u00a0sources told TMZ.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Spears for comment.<\/p>\n

Her decision to enter treatment comes around a month after she was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Ventura County, California<\/a>, on March 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n

An insider told Celebrity Intelligence of the DUI, ‘This situation served as a wake-up call.’<\/p>\n

Spears ‘acknowledges that her behavior has not been healthy and genuinely wants to seek help,’ the insider told the newsletter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The …Baby One More Time artist also had her pending court case in connection with the DUI in mind when she committed to the 30-day rehab program, an insider told TMZ.<\/p>\n

‘She knows strategically this will look good in front of the judge – that she’s taking it seriously,’ a source told the outlet of the case, which returns before a judge May 4.<\/p>\n

Spears’ two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline, 48 – Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19 – ‘been strongly supportive of the move,’ sources told TMZ.<\/p>\n

Spears ‘could stay longer’ than the 30 requisite days for the program she’s in, a source told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Just prior to checking into the facility, it was business as usual for Spears, who posted a clip of herself dancing to her Instagram account. In the post, she danced to the Cardi B track I Like It while in a black bodysuit with a thong.<\/p>\n

Since the arrest, Spears has been diligently working the AA program and holding nothing back in meetings, an insider told The Daily Mail <\/a>last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Britney has been very open and honest in her AA meetings, she has said she loves pouring her heart out as she knows that is the best way to heal and feel better.<\/p>\n

‘The only thing she has indulged in is fancy coffee drinks<\/a>. She is being super careful because she wants to be there for her kids.’<\/p>\n

Spears has a lengthy history with the program, by her own admission: She wrote in her 2023 memoir The Woman In Me that she attended AA meetings four times a week during the time she was in the conservatorship formerly run by her father Jamie Spears.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She had previous addressed the fallout of the DUI in a March 27 post as she danced alongside son Jayden.<\/p>\n

‘Thank you guys for all your support\u2026 spending time with family and friends is such a blessing,’ Spears wrote in the social media post, advising her followers to ‘stay kind.’<\/p>\n

Spears\u00a0was released from the Ventura County Jail following the March 4 DUI, officials with the California Highway Patrol said.<\/p>\n

The incident unfolded when a person reported an erratic driver in a black BMW 430i on the U.S. 101 freeway around the area bordering Ventura County and Los Angeles<\/a> County, officials said.<\/p>\n

The Toxic artist was the only person in the vehicle in the incident, in which she underwent a series of field sobriety tests.<\/p>\n

Spears’ representative hinted at a potential rehab stint when expressing wishes that the legal infraction would be a wake-up call for the beloved entertainer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The representative said that ‘hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

‘Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.’<\/p>\n
