Sydney player Isaac Heeney<\/a> has been anointed as the king of the AFL<\/a>, according to Six Points\u00a0co-host Daniel Harford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Heeney produced a standout Gather Round performance against fellow contenders Gold Coast on Saturday, amassing 31 disposals, two goals, 11 tackles, 10 clearances and 10 goal assists, placing him among the racers for the coveted Brownlow Medal.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the\u00a0Six Points AFL Podcast<\/a>, Harford said that the Swans star is the “most complete” player, and has surpassed guns Marcus Bontempelli<\/a> and Nick Daicos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“What we need to do is crown the king of football,” Harford said.<\/p>\n

“I know there’s Marcus Bontempelli<\/a>, and there’s plenty out there that love to say Nick Daicos<\/a> is the best player in the game, but after only three games in 2026, I’m anointing a new king of football, his name is Isaac Heeney<\/a> from the Sydney Swans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“He is the most complete, damage-impact player in the competition at the moment. Only played three games so far, but he’s averaging 21 (disposals) and 2.6 goals a game.<\/p>\n

“He is the most important player in the game, and the best player in the competition currently as we speak.<\/p>\n

“This guy is the complete package.”<\/p>\n

Fellow\u00a0Six Points co-host Mark Stevens posed the question why Heeney has elevated into the status of the game’s best.<\/p>\n

“It seems to be his consistency,” the ex-Hawthorn midfielder responded.<\/p>\n

“His ability to perform week-in, week-out. I know he’s missed a couple weeks this year, so I know it’s not a full set for Isaac Heeney<\/a>, but what he’s doing is remarkable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“He does it all. He does it at the contest. He does it behind the ball when required and then he goes forward and hits the scoreboard, and that’s the modern champion.<\/p>\n

“The modern champion must be able to get the footy and hit the scoreboard, and Isaac Heeney<\/a> does it better than anyone.<\/p>\n

“He’s a nightmare match-up in forward 50. He’s the best player in the game.”<\/p>\n
