Plus massive government deficits in many countries.<\/p>\n<p>At some point, the concern is that inflationary expectations will be permanently embedded in consumers\u2019 and workers\u2019 psyches. At that point, central banks might need to inflict some real economic damage to reset expectations.<\/p>\n<p>How should we look at inflation reversion?<\/p>\n<p>There are two ways to consider reversion:<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>1. While central banks will force inflation back to 2%, prices will remain structurally higher.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nucleuswealth.com\/hubfs\/Imported_Blog_Media\/path1-2022-10-14-152851-Mar-27-2025-02-29-58-4117-PM.png\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/path1-2022-10-14-152851-Mar-27-2025-02-29-58-4117-PM.png\" width=\"575\" height=\"300\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. The biggest issue for Australia is that despite having an incredible amount of energy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrobusiness.com.au\/blog\/the-pacific-inflation-divide-the-race-to-cut-vs.-the-fight-to-hold\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">a political decision has been made to open Australia up to world prices<\/a>. Embedding\u00a0higher inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Can the RBA use higher interest rates to bring down world energy prices? No, it can\u2019t. But in the short term, there are other considerations.
