Phil Rothfield says it\u2019s \u201creally unusual\u201d that Selwyn Cobbo and Ezra Mam went down with hamstring injuries in the Broncos\u2019 loss to the Storm, and that question marks over coach Michael Maguire\u2019s training methods are \u201cgenuine\u201d.<\/p>\n
Cobbo, Mam, and skipper Adam Reynolds all suffered hamstring injuries in Brisbane\u2019s nightmare trip to Melbourne.<\/p>\n
According to the Broncos, Reynolds will be sidelined for four weeks, but the injuries to Cobbo and Mam are more severe, with the pair unlikely to return for more than six weeks.<\/p>\n

Limited-time offer ><\/a><\/p>\n While Rothfield said it was understandable that 35-year-old Reynolds suffered the injury, given his age, he was less convinced about Mam, 22, and Cobbo, 23.<\/p>\n \u201cReynolds\u2019 body has been a question mark for a couple of years,\u201d Rothfield said on NRL 360.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd these soft tissue injuries that he suffers every now and then, so that is always a risk of happening.<\/p>\n \u201cBut with people like Cobbo and with people like Ezra Mam I think it\u2019s really unusual that they went down.\u201d<\/p>\n Rothfield implied the Broncos had leaked to journalists like fellow panellist Brent Read that they\u2019d had a light training week, in order to keep the media off their backs about their training methods.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I think the Broncos, this week, rather than leaking to you that they\u2019ve had light weeks, I honestly think they should be looking in and a deeper dive into why these (injuries) are happening,\u201d Rothfield said to Read.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I\u2019m saying is the other clubs don\u2019t have three (hamstring injuries) a game.\u201d<\/p>\n But Read felt as though the general speed of the game had more to do with the Broncos\u2019 injuries, and also pointed out that other clubs have had their share of injuries as well.<\/p>\n \u201cThe game\u2019s so fast, there\u2019s six agains, ball in play is more,\u201d Read said.<\/p>\n \u201cSouths have had so many injuries this year, it\u2019s not funny.<\/p>\n \u201cMultiple calf problems.
