\u201cCambrian explosion\u201d<\/a> of technological advances \u2013 including artificial intelligence \u2013 could propel the US\u2019 potential economic growth to 4 per cent by 2030, and as high as 10 per cent in less than a quarter-century, overshadowing Middle East oil shocks and other near-term headwinds.<\/p>\nFraming AI as a long-term driver rather than a bubble, the economist said that the US and China were the world\u2019s two leading innovators, and that both stood to benefit.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat fundamental story \u2013 regardless of geopolitics, regardless of climate change, regardless of populism \u2013 is the driver for the next 10 to 20 years, and is a positive for the world at large,\u201d Roubini said at the Greenwich Economic Forum in Hong Kong on Monday.<\/p>\n
Roubini pointed to around 15 technologies \u2013 including AI, semiconductors, humanoid robots and space exploration \u2013 that he said collectively represent a \u201cCambrian explosion of new technologies of the future that we\u2019ve not seen in human history\u201d.<\/p>\n
