We\u2019ve seen a lot of Jon Jones interviews this weekend as the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champ bounced from his Dirty Boxing event to UFC 327. There was the usual will he or won\u2019t he<\/a> return to fighting questions, many of which he answered in completely opposite ways.<\/a><\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s this little moment from Shea Filling,<\/a> who has become a regular covering all the unorthodox boxing events like BKFC and now Jon Jones\u2019 DBX event. After complimenting \u201cBones\u201d on an impressive event she also dropped this chestnut.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are nothing [like] what I expected,\u201d she told Jones.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah? Did you expect me to be a scary guy?\u201d Jones replied, raising an eyebrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe media, there\u2019s a lot of stuff out there about you,\u201d Filling said. \u201cAnd you think, \u2018What would he be like in person?\u2019 And you\u2019re completely the opposite of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you,\u201d Jones said. \u201cYeah. You know, I am a little bit of a wild guy and and I\u2019m pretty well known. So when I mess up, it gets very, very public. But I do believe I\u2019m a way more good of a person than I am any negative. We all have our things, you know. We all have our sides. But I think I\u2019m a pretty good person.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Jones has had to respond to comments like this. He\u2019s been saying he\u2019s not a villain<\/a> and actually the nicest person ever since 2012. But we prefer the ultra-real Jon Jones<\/a> from 2017 who was just returning to fight again after blowing a drug test and getting yanked from UFC 200\u2019s main event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all out there in the public, and that\u2019s a freeing feeling to be looked at as a piece of s–t by so many people,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd to be able to just be real for yourself and to take responsibility for the things you\u2019ve done wrong. I feel so free, man. It\u2019s a great feeling to be who I am. Jon Jones, the f–k up. Jon Jones, the great. However, you look at me, it\u2019s just great to be me.\u201d<\/p>\n
