It aired for five seasons before ending in 1970.<\/p>\n<p>These days, Eden enjoys a quieter life with her husband and their dog, Bentley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t realize how popular \u2018Jeannie\u2019 was until several years after, and it still amazes me,\u201d Eden told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/i-dream-of-jeannie-star-barbara-eden-reflects-on-legacy-exclusive-11821972\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">People<\/a>\u00a0in 2025. \u201cI can\u2019t believe it. I have mail from Russia. Can you imagine? Magic is good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, Eden has uncorked the truth about why the 1960s sitcom was first shot in black and white before switching to color. \u201cI was going to have a baby,\u201d she explained in an interview with People. \u201cAnd, so, they started fast. I think they thought I was going to die or something. Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>It had long been assumed that showrunners worried about how the show\u2019s special effects would look in color, prompting them to play it safe, People reported. <\/p>\n<p>However, they were actually more concerned about\u00a0hiding Eden\u2019s growing baby bump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same day that\u00a0\u2018I Dream of Jeannie\u2019 sold, the doctor told me I was pregnant,\u201d Eden previously told the outlet. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was thrilled. I was so happy, but I knew they\u2019d have to replace me. Well, God love [\u2018I Dream of Jeannie\u2019\u00a0creator] Sidney Sheldon.
