(Supplied: SBSonDemand)

What’s it about? Silicon Valley CEO Duncan Park (Billy Magnussen) wants you to think he has everything under control. But right from the get-go of this techy new drama from Succession writer Jonathan Glatzer, it’s very apparent Park is flailing wildly.

After leaking rumours of his own data company’s acquisition, the buyers are backing out leaving Duncan bug-eyed and desperate to keep his stock price high. He ruthlessly badgers everyone in his privileged circle for a way out, but none more so than his “performance psychologist” Joanne Felder (Sarah Goldberg), as he practically begs Silicon Valley’s most in-demand shrink to coddle him and say it’s gonna be okay.

Of course it’s not all going to be okay. The Audacity comes in a long line of satirical dramas poking fun at society’s richest, and most deranged characters. Moving the Succession-esque action from New York media to the tech centre of the United States provides ample opportunity to laugh at the petulant toddlers that unfortunately have access to all your personal data.

After her stunning turn in Barry, it’s excellent to see Goldberg’s soft sliminess once more and Zach Galifianakis drops by to do some killer deadpan work, but Magnussen’s frazzled, frantic CEO rightly steals the very grimy spotlight.

Perfect for: Anyone with a Succession-shaped hole in their hearts

Where to watch: The Audacity will stream from April 16 on SBSonDemand

Bad Company

Fisk’s Kitty Flanagan and Anne Edmonds go head to head in Bad Company. Verging on financial ruin and exasperated by Margie’s everyday theatrics, The Argyle’s board installs no-nonsense CEO Julia McNamara (Kitty Flanagan) to turn the flailing theatre around.

Written by Edmonds, there are twinges of her breakthrough character Helen Bidou in Margie — especially when she’s forcing her employees into a breathing exercise or touting her own artistic achievements. Crisp as a freshly ironed sheet, Flanagan provides the flip side of Margie’s coin with hopes that her straight-laced finance #girlboss can let her hair down before the season’s end.

Caught in the crosshairs of Margie and Julia’s war is a hilariously understated supporting cast including Cameron James as a flop-sweaty marketing manager and comedian Angella Dravid as a deliciously deadpan costumer.

Perfect for: Those who want to watch two Australian comedians at the top of their games

Where to watch: Bad Company will stream on ABC iview from April 28

Half Man

Jamie Bell and Richard Gadd have some demons to work through in Half Man. It’s the year of the television reboot and next on the chopping block is Malcolm in the Middle, the scruffy early-2000s family comedy.

It’s been 20 years and short-fused genius Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) has finally figured out how to not freak out while around his large, loud family by avoiding them in person completely. He’s even kept his teenage kid Leah (Keeley Karsten) a secret from the family brood. But when his parents Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) insist he attends their 40th anniversary party, going as far to visit Malcolm unannounced, his elaborate ruse unravels.

With nearly all the cast returning, except for Erik Per Sullivan, the original Dewey who declined to return to focus on academia (respect), the show falls back into its comfortable vibe very easily. Cranston and Kaczmarek remain the MVPs for their heightened, physical comedic performances.

Don’t go into Life’s Still Unfair expect a Scrubs-style story pickup; the four half-hour episodes leave the feeling of more of an elongated reunion than any kind of series continuation — but sometimes that’s all you need.

Perfect for: Indulging in a little smooth-brain nostalgia

Where to watch: Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is streaming on Disney+ now

Margo’s Got Money Troubles

Margo finds an out-of-this-world way to support her baby.
