Sources told us that Spears\u2019 arrest came as a wake-up call.<\/p>\n
At the time of the arrest, a source exclusively told The Post the singer was \u201cincredibly emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the source, Spears, 44, \u201cfelt ashamed and embarrassed\u201d and is \u201cvery sorry\u201d for what happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a very hard couple of months,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n
On March 4, the Grammy-winning pop star was taken into custody after authorities saw her swerving in and out of lanes. They also allegedly discovered an unknown substance inside her car during her arrest and she is believed to have been on a cocktail of alcohol and drugs.<\/p>\n
She was released the following morning, per arrest records from the Ventura County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for the Ventura County District Attorney\u2019s Office told the California Post, \u201cThe DUI case against Britney Spears has been submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney\u2019s Office and is under review by our prosecutors.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spears broke her silence on her arrest late last month on Instagram, when she shared videos with Jayden.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you guys for all your support \u2026 spending time with family and friends is such a blessing!\u201d Spears wrote.<\/p>\n
