Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka may already have his next fight in the works following a brutal defeat at UFC 327.<\/p>\n
Jiri Prochazka\u2019s quest for a second UFC light heavyweight championship hit another major obstacle last weekend as he lost in come-from-behind fashion to Carlos Ulberg at UFC 327. Just minutes into his fight with Ulberg, Prochazka landed several devastating leg kicks and left Ulberg badly injured, before Ulberg miraculously knocked out Prochazka as the former titleholder slowed down his activity level.<\/p>\n
It was a shocking finish to an entertaining card at UFC 327, as Ulberg reigned in a new era in the UFC light heavyweight division. In his post-fight Octagon interview, Prochazka hinted he \u2018showed mercy\u2019 to Ulberg<\/a> after injuring his leg, leading to Ulberg rallying and knocking him out.<\/p>\n Legendary MMA coach Ray Longo and others have slammed Prochazka\u2019s comments in the hours after UFC 327. Former champion Magomed Ankalaev also reignited his feud with Prochazka in a recent social media post.<\/p>\n Amidst the swirl of criticism since UFC 327, Prochazka felt compelled to speak out after leaving Miami.<\/p>\n Jiri Prochazka responds to \u2018mercy\u2019 narrative criticism, hints at UFC return plans<\/p>\n Upon returning home to the Czech Republic after UFC 327, Prochazka was greeted with a swarm of local media<\/a> and issued some brutally honest remarks on the loss.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t give the performance that I wanted. I literally f***** it up, and mainly, that at the moment when I saw a weak opponent or an injured opponent,\u201d Prochazka said.<\/p>\n \u201cI won\u2019t make excuses about some pity or compassion for him. I know that at that moment, I no longer worked at one hundred percent. That then cost me the victory. I want to eat this up here until the worst end, so that I can, with all these emotions, with this feeling, go further and go for that title again. Because, as I talked with the UFC management, they are open towards all sorts of other alternatives, whether just some interesting fight or just jump for [another] title shot.<\/p>\n \u201cI am not saying yet; nothing is confirmed yet,\u201d Prochazka continued. \u201cHowever, I know after this performance I will no longer be the same and give these performances that I gave. After this experience, I will be stronger than ever before, and I\u2019ll bring that title back to the Czech Republic.\u201d<\/p>\n As of this writing, it\u2019s uncertain if Prochazka will fight at light heavyweight in his next appearance or potentially entertain a move to another division.
