But before you stress… It’s not what you think.

Not All Outlook Is Going

The main Microsoft Outlook app is staying put. What’s getting the axe is Outlook Lite, a smaller, stripped-down version built for older phones and slower internet connections. If you’re using it, you’ve got about six weeks left.

Article continues after this ad

Image: Microsoft

What’s Changing?

From May 25, 2026, Outlook Lite will stop working properly. That means no access to emails, calendars, or attachments through the app. You’ll need to switch to the full Outlook app to keep things running.

Why Is Microsoft Doing This?

It comes down to simplicity. Microsoft wants everyone on one app. That makes updates faster, security tighter, and features more consistent across the board. In short: one app, fewer headaches (for them, at least).

Article continues after this ad

Who Will Feel It Most?

This hits users with older or budget Android phones the hardest. Outlook Lite was tiny, fast, and data-friendly. The full app uses more storage and power, so it’s not quite the same experience.

The Bottom Line

You’re not losing Outlook.
