Cate Blanchett<\/a> showed off a rarely-seen side of herself during a red carpet appearance at the Olivier Awards on Sunday<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 56-year-old had clearly had enough of the noisy photographers screaming at her to turn to the left, and instead of doing that, she flipped them the finger<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Australian star gave a cheeky smile as she made the rude gesture while still looking straight ahead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At first Blanchett kept her cool, smiling as the cameras flashed, but clearly she wasn’t happy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Lord of the Rings star even held up her hand in an effort to get them to stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She yelled, “Stop it” at one point as the photographers continued to yell at her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When she stuck up her middle finger to the pack of photographers, the pack erupted into laughter.<\/p>\n

While she stayed stoic at first, the mask dropped and she laughed too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The moment was an unexpected one from the Australian-born star, but showed that deep down there’s a side of her that’s very relatable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blanchett was one of the many stars at the Olivier Awards early this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She attended the Royal Albert Hall event alongside Elizabeth Hurley, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rachel Zegler, Rosamund Pike and more stars.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blanchett was up for the Best Actress Award for her role in The Seagull \u2013 which was her first Olivier nomination \u2013 but it was Pike who took it home.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the awards show, she spoke about her memories of first moving to the UK<\/a> decades ago during an event held at Australia House in London<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“When I came to this country, for better or for worse, I was patted on the head 20 years ago because of the way I spoke, the country I came from,” she said during a panel, alongside celebrated Australian writer Suzie Miller and Aussie director Kip Williams.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”I wasn’t tolerated culturally and it was brutal. It was brutal.<\/p>\n

“I mean, I still worked but I worked hard and I thought ‘every day, I’m gonna have to prove myself because I’m not necessarily invited to the table, I’m from the colonies’ … there’s many Australians in the room who would have felt the same.”<\/p>\n
