One of Perth\u2019s most popular public golf courses<\/a> is getting a proper glow up over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n

Construction has commenced on a $19.8 million redevelopment of Collier Park Golf in Como, with a sod-turning ceremony last month marking the official start of works.<\/p>\n

When complete (the main buildings are due for February 2027), the Hayman Road facility will add a 48-bay double-storey driving range, a new restaurant, four padel courts, a dedicated function and event space for up to 150 guests, a new all-abilities playground, and a retail offering for golf and padel \u2014 all sitting alongside the existing 27-hole course and mini golf.<\/p>\n

The driving range is the headline addition. Each of the 48 bays will have interactive game technology built in, with food and beverage ordering direct to the bay \u2014 a format that tips the facility into social entertainment territory, not just practice. Bays will be bookable, day or night, across two levels.<\/p>\n

The new restaurant is being positioned as a destination in its own right \u2014 with indoor and outdoor dining, a grab-and-go kiosk, and menus designed for long lunches and returning visits. It\u2019ll link to the padel courts and driving range, making the whole precinct function as a leisure destination rather than a golf club with add-ons.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the four padel courts will be outdoors and open to beginners and social players, not just the already-converted. The function space, with its outdoor lawn and free parking, is targeting weddings and corporate events alongside private celebrations.<\/p>\n

The $19.8 million cost is being shared between the City of South Perth, which owns the course, and operator Clublinks \u2014 with the City\u2019s contribution funded entirely from golf course revenue.<\/p>\n

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner attended the sod-turning alongside Collier Park General Manager Gemma Nicholson. \u201cThis redevelopment will enable Collier Park to become a true community hub, where quality golfing experiences sit alongside dining, leisure and entertainment,\u201d Milner said.<\/p>\n

Nicholson was equally excited: \u201cFor our golfers, it means our facilities will match the incredible quality of our golf course and gives us more pathways to grow the game in future generations. I can\u2019t wait for the buildings to take shape now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The golf course itself is unaffected by construction, with the existing driving range and most facilities continuing to operate throughout the build except for the practice chipping and putting greens, which are temporarily closed.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no official completion date yet, though demolition of the existing buildings and a car park extension are due to be complete by the end of May next year.<\/p>\n
