{"id":60690,"date":"2025-08-11T19:08:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T19:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/60690\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T19:08:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T19:08:09","slug":"why-max-verstappen-is-urging-red-bull-not-to-give-up-on-2025-despite-impending-f1-rule-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/60690\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Max Verstappen is urging Red Bull not to give up on 2025 despite impending F1 rule change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/verstappen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Verstappen <\/a>has urged Red Bull not to give up on the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> season, despite his diminishing title prospects and the upcoming change to the regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen is all but certain to relinquish the hold he has had on the Drivers\u2019 Championship since 2021 as he sits 97 points behind Oscar Piastri at the summer break.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutchman has long insisted that he is not in contention with the McLaren duo, though Red Bull harboured hope that upgrades might propel him back into the mix.<\/p>\n<p>But with the team\u2019s most recent updates not eliminating the RB21\u2019s limitations, Verstappen\u2019s podium drought extended to four races as he wound up ninth in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/racing\/2025\/hungary\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hungary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Verstappen, who has established that he will remain with the side amid renewed discussions with Mercedes, has called on Red Bull not to rest on its laurels.<\/p>\n<p>Even with a revamp to the technical rules on the horizon, Verstappen claimed that Red Bull can learn things over the remaining rounds that will be applicable for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s still a lot to learn also this year,\u201d Verstappen told media including Motorsport Week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, the car that has to be built for next year, of course, that is fully on the way. But the engineering side of things, there\u2019s still a lot that we can learn this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you cannot just say, \u2018OK, we\u2019re not winning this year the championship, so we just build it off completely.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike I said before, there are always things that you can take from this year to next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Max-Verstappen-Red-Bull-3-1024x576.webp.webp\" alt=\"Max Verstappen is ensuring Red Bull is not resting on its laurels\" class=\"wp-image-219409\"  \/>Max Verstappen is ensuring Red Bull is not resting on its laurels<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen envisages hard end to 2025 season<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen reiterated his stance as he admitted he is not expecting to be in a position to add to the two victories he has achieved to date amid McLaren\u2019s dominance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think no one really knows for next year where they will be at,\u201d the reigning F1 champion added regarding the potential pecking order in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd for us this year, I think realistically, it\u2019s going to be very difficult, of course, to fight McLaren. I think it\u2019s already difficult enough to fight with Ferrari and Mercedes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think there\u2019s still a lot of opportunity to learn more about the car and the behaviour of the car. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause still, of course, I know that the cars will be different next year.
