Tudor has revealed a stealthy new Black Bay Ceramic, elevating the previous model with a revised high-tech ceramic case with a matt black finish.
\nFor the first time, we have a newly engineered, fully ceramic 3-link bracelet, also finished in matt black, featuring a double-folding clasp.
\nUp front and centre sits a new, subtly domed sunray satin black dial, completing the blacked-out look, this time with slightly darker Super-LumiNova.<\/p>\n

Since its original launch in 2021, the Black Bay Ceramic<\/a> has been a beacon of technical expertise for Tudor. While it\u2019s true that it was never a full ceramic watch in the truest sense of the word, because of the subtle addition of a handful of black PVD stainless steel components, the Black Bay Ceramic still represented something special for the brand; the only watch in the entire range, including that of its parent company, Rolex, that features a case made from zirconium oxide-based ceramic<\/a>. In 2024, we got a very cool Daring version, featuring a vibrant blue dial<\/a> to accent the Cash App RB Formula 1 team\u2019s livery, and yet, there\u2019s always been something missing from the BBC. That is, until now. For Watches and Wonders 2026, Tudor has refreshed the Black Bay Ceramic with subtle changes across the head of the watch, but importantly, has finally introduced the missing piece: the first full ceramic bracelet on a Tudor.<\/p>\n

First of all, the watch is still a Black Bay in every way; it remains 41mm, but now has a slightly revised lug-to-lug measurement of 49.4mm, and importantly, thickness, a bone of contention for many a Tudor fan, has been reduced to 13.55mm. It\u2019s not a drastic redesign, but just enough to bring the proportions down to something more balanced on the wrist.<\/p>\n

Another important aspect is the ceramic cases\u2019 finish, which is now micro-blasted, not only giving a smoother feel to the touch but also making the black look more of a charcoal grey in certain lights. This is accentuated by mirror-polished, chamfered flanks, adding a subtle touch of luxury. Water resistance remains at 200 metres, primarily due to the use of black PVD-coated 316L stainless steel for the caseback, crown and crown tube.<\/p>\n

Another stainless steel item is the unidirectional rotating bezel; however, inside it is a sunray satin-finished ceramic insert that matches the case\u2019s black, while the concentric brushing makes it shimmer in the light as you turn the watch. The surface of the ceramic bezel insert is engraved with 10-minute markers up to 60, with the distinctive triangle at 12. Sitting inside that is a domed sapphire crystal sealing everything in.<\/p>\n

Beneath the crystal, there\u2019s even more dark, stealthy newness. The now-iconic Black Bay dial has once again been finished with a sunray treatment, this time in a charcoal black that seems to match the bezel perfectly, reflecting light everywhere as it passes over, especially since the dial isn\u2019t flat; unusually, it has a slightly domed surface. Oddly, it seems to make what should be a pretty difficult watch to read actually surprisingly legible, even considering that darker Super-LumiNova has been applied this time around. The dial print appears darker, too, compared to the deep grey of the previous model, which is fine because this new charcoal dial actually makes it stand out a little more.<\/p>\n

Powering the Black Bay Ceramic is the self-winding Calibre MT5602-U, the COSC and METAS-certified<\/a>, Kenisi-made movement found in the previous models. Considered a Master Chronometer, it offers a substantial 70 hours of power reserve, making it truly weekend-proof, and features a non-magnetic silicon balance spring to ensure everything remains insanely accurate, even in the toughest of conditions.<\/p>\n

The biggest addition to this new Black Bay Ceramic is that it finally receives a full ceramic bracelet. It carries the distinctive 3-link design of other Black Bays and, of course, features the same matt black surface finish as the case; however, this bracelet closes very differently from that of other Tudor sports watches.<\/p>\n

Unusually, Tudor has opted for a double-folding clasp, which can be opened and closed with two buttons on either side. Sadly, this does mean the bracelet forgoes the brilliant adjustability of the T-fit<\/a> system found on the clasps of the metal bracelets on some other Black Bays; however, the ceramic links can be removed to help find that perfect fit. Despite the lack of adjustability, the new light and airy feel of the bracelet is welcome, and actually, the slim profile of the clasp brings a fresh perspective on Tudor bracelets.<\/p>\n
