Former Today Show host Lisa Wilkinson has returned to the breakfast program nearly eight years after her depature, saying it was \u201cstrange\u201d to be back on her old stomping ground.<\/p>\n
Wilkinson left the Today Show in 2017 after 10 years as co-host alongside Karl Stefanovic, joining The Project on Channel 10 before departing in 2022. <\/p>\n
Nearly eight years after her departure from the breakfast program, Wilkinson revealed she would be back on the program.<\/p>\n
However, this time she\u2019s not sitting behind the desk \u2013 she\u2019s there topromote her new project about an Australian hero on the Titanic.<\/p>\n
Sitting on set in a brown suit, she was all smiles as she reunited with the Channel 9 crew.<\/p>\n
Of course, it wouldn\u2019t be a reunion without a few jabs from her cheeky former co-host. <\/p>\n
\u201cOn April 15, 1912 \u2013 114 years ago \u2013 Lisa Wilkinson started working on the Today Show,\u201d Stefanovic quipped, causing the entire set to erupt in laughter. <\/p>\n
Wilkinson couldn\u2019t help but agree as she looked around the set. <\/p>\n
\u201cI love what you\u2019ve done with the place,\u201d she said with a smile.<\/p>\n
Throughout the reunion, the Today Show hosts played a compilation of hilarious \u2013 and sometimes awkward \u2013 clips of the former duo\u2019s on-air adventures, such as curling on the Nintendo Wii and travelling across the world. <\/p>\n
\u201cI did my dues,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, 10 years of such a special time on the Today Show, so thank you both,\u201d she said, watching the replay of some of her funniest moments on TV. <\/p>\n
She said one of her favourite moments was trying to get a chuckle out of her co-host.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the joys of that was your reaction,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know about you, but I like it when I can make him laugh.\u201d <\/p>\n
Despite the sweet reunion, Ms Wilkinson acknowledged it was \u201cweird\u201d to be back on set. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very, very strange,\u201d she laughed. <\/p>\n
She also couldn\u2019t help but bury her head in her hands as the throwback footage rolled on the screens.<\/p>\n
\u201cWelcome to This Is Your Life, Lisa,\u201d Karl joked. <\/p>\n
Ms Wilkinson teased her return to the small screen on Tuesday evening. <\/p>\n
\u201cAfter more than eight years away from the Today Show, I\u2019ll be back at the desk with Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo talking about my new book, all things Titanic and Evelyn Marsden \u2026 with maybe a little reminiscing thrown in for good measure,\u201d she wrote on social media. <\/p>\n
Karl, who has been co-anchor of the breakfast show for more than two decades, cheekily reminded his former co-host to \u201cset the alarm\u201d for her early start. <\/p>\n
Abo, who is expecting her first child later this year, also joined in on the fun: \u201cCannot wait! Have you cleared your calendar for August?\u201d <\/p>\n
