In the latest edition of out-of-touch celebrities whining about America, we have the recent musings of Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman. <\/p>\n
Kimmel joined Silverman on her eponymous podcast<\/a> last week for an hour-long sit-down that was billed as a \u201ctrip down memory lane with her old pal,\u201d but it quickly devolved into a political therapy session for leftists with no self-awareness.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Arrivederci, Jimmy?<\/p>\n We learned from the interview that the late-night host is apparently so afraid of President Trump he is thinking about fleeing the United States and even managed to get Italian citizenship. <\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s going on is, as bad as you thought it was going to, it\u2019s so much worse. It\u2019s just unbelievable,\u201d Kimmel claimed about Trump 2.0. \u201cLike, I feel like it\u2019s probably even worse than he would like it to be.\u201d<\/p>\n Oh, sure, because we look to Jimmy Kimmel to figure out insights into how Donald Trump is thinking. The absurdity of this. I would say \u201cgo,\u201d but I love Italy too much to say that. They don\u2019t deserve this. Why would they have given him citizenship to begin with?\u00a0<\/p>\n He should definitely leave, but he won\u2019t. He is just saying that to get plaudits from fellow leftist Sarah Silverman and from people who listen to that show. He will never leave his very lucrative but loser of a show on ABC late night because feeling important and like he matters is too important to Jimmy Kimmel.<\/p>\n Scolding the Scolds<\/p>\n Kimmel and Silverman went on to talk about how this version of the left \u2013 the one that they helped build \u2013 has become too full of scolds when it comes to the way we talk and the way we joke. This was one exchange:<\/p>\n SILVERMAN: \u2026Republicans know the difference between right and wrong in general. Like, they know what they\u2019re doing\u2026 But the left\u2026 I find it ironic\u2026 I\u2019m on the left\u2026 but I find, in general, the party that is about inclusivity is incredibly elitist. Just f-cking say, \u2018Join us. Yes, come join us. Yes, sit next to me.\u2019<\/p>\n KIMMEL: But it\u2019s not, it\u2019s not the party, it\u2019s not the majority, it\u2019s the loud voices that scare people from saying what they believe and make you think twice about a joke or whatever\u2026 And you know, a lot of their points are valid, but a lot of them were also just repulsive\u2026 They repel people. They go like, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re no fun. I don\u2019t want to be around you.\u2019 And I think that if you had to boil it down to, like, one thing, that\u2019s kind of what it is.<\/p>\n Whomever could they be talking about? Who on the left has ever scolded others for not behaving the right way or saying the right things? Oh, I know.\u00a0<\/p>\n Remember when Kimmel said that \u201cif you are a reasonable person, you should have Trump Derangement Syndrome\u201d? Or what about when he cried the night after the 2024 election and declared it a \u201cterrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country go, for healthcare, for our climate, for science\u201d? Or how about when he \u201cjoked\u201d that people who didn\u2019t get the COVID vaccine should be turned away from hospitals and \u201crest in peace\u201d?<\/p>\n Not to be outdone, Silverman once claimed that being a Trump supporter wasn\u2019t an \u201cideology\u201d but rather \u201can act of hatred.\u201d She also wondered why \u201cthese right-wing people really f-cking hate me,\u201d surmising it must be because she is \u201ca gender-neutral bathroom\u201d or \u201ca grown woman with an opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n #PartOfTheProblem<\/p>\n They have participated almost as much as anyone in creating this cancer in their own party that we refer to as \u201cwokeism.\u201d It used to be called \u201cpolitical correctness,\u201d but then it exploded into an animal that was only distantly related to political correctness. Wokeism is truly pernicious, dangerous, and sick. <\/p>\n These two love wokeism, and now they have the nerve to have this conversation. At least, she says she is of the left. But this sort of \u2018gee, what\u2019s happened to our party?\u2019 is so insincere. Your entire party has been held captive to this group of woke leftists, and you show no desire to reform. <\/p>\n It is just the \u201cloud voices,\u201d Kimmel says, scaring people from saying what they really believe.\u00a0Does he have any self-reflection of how the COVID mania was part of that? He was scaring people about their hesitation to get the vaccine; scaring them that they might not get hospital care for heart attacks if they didn\u2019t get the vaccine he wanted shoved in their arm. If he had his way, I would have forced all three of my children to get that vaccine \u2013 including my teenage son, notwithstanding the published risks of myocarditis among that age group.\u00a0<\/p>\n There is absolutely no self-awareness nor self-reflection.\u00a0<\/p>\n These two now say that there are certain people in their party who \u201crepel\u201d people. Who is it, Sarah Silverman? Is it the people who scold that you are not allowed to believe there are only two biological sexes and that men cannot become women? Are those the people you\u2019re talking about? Because I think they qualify as people within your party who \u201crepel\u201d others. <\/p>\n But there you were on camera dismissing criticisms of this gender ideology like they were right-wing nutcases. You suggested Republicans are all sexists, saying the reason they hate you is that you are a woman. Did you pause to think maybe you are #PartOfTheProblem?<\/p>\n Changing the Rules<\/p>\n Here is what I believe they are really upset about. These are two people who have worn blackface. Sarah Silverman did the worst kind of blackface imaginable, minstrel show blackface. She has since said that she regrets it, and she did take a lot of incoming when we had the reckoning over race and so on back in 2018, 2019, 2020.<\/p>\n But Jimmy Kimmel, amazingly, still has a career, despite the fact that, not only did he wear blackface, he put on a fat suit and portrayed Oprah Winfrey talking about darning socks. Like, how many stereotypes can you hit? And then he also did Karl Malone speaking in Ebonics.\u00a0<\/p>\n Now, some of us had a discussion about blackface Halloween costumes (i.e. wearing tinted skin to try to look like Diana Ross or Michael Jackson, which is also technically referred to as blackface). I think you could make a very strong case that it is not the same thing as minstrel show blackface. Yet this is the same crew that pushed for my cancellation at NBC just for talking about blackface.<\/p>\n I have never worn blackface \u2013 not a single stitch of that kind of makeup \u2013 in my life. These two donned the absolute worst forms of it while openly mocking black people, and they are fine. They have their careers intact, and now they want to lament the liberal scolds in their party who make it uncomfortable for others and who \u201crepel\u201d people. <\/p>\n You see, they want it both ways. They want to be able to wear their blackface Halloween costumes and not get scolded for it, but they still want to scold you if you won\u2019t get the vaccine or if you vote Republican because you must hate women and be against trans people.<\/p>\n I am trying to figure out their rules. It actually would have been a much more interesting discussion if all of that could have been addressed and they were super honest about it. But don\u2019t hold your breath.
