Avril Lavigne<\/a> has come full circle by releasing\u00a0a cover of Alanis Morissette<\/a>\u2019s \u201990s classic \u201cIronic.\u201d Stream it below.<\/p>\n

On the cover, Lavigne doesn\u2019t attempt to reinvent the wheel, keeping the arrangement and the not-so-ironic lyrics true to the original. She doesn\u2019t try to match Morissette\u2019s powerhouse voice, either, instead channeling the early-aughts angst from her early career.<\/p>\n

Morissette and a young Lavigne performed a duet of \u201cIronic\u201d at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on February 11th, 2005. The moment took place during the first encore of Morissette\u2019s concert, when Lavigne was brought on stage to first perform her own hit, \u201cLosing Grip.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lavigne\u2019s new version of \u201cIronic\u201d\u00a0was recorded for the soundtrack for the upcoming romcom Mile End Kicks, arriving in theaters on April 17th. In the film, Barbie Ferreira stars as Grace Pine, a 24-year-old music critic who moves to Montreal in 2011 to write a book about the making of Morissette\u2019s breakout 1995 album,\u00a0Jagged Little Pill<\/a>.<\/p>\n
