{"id":609957,"date":"2026-04-16T04:33:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T04:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/609957\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T04:33:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T04:33:09","slug":"taylor-momsen-admitted-to-hospital-after-venomous-spider-bite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/609957\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Momsen admitted to hospital after venomous spider bite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US singer and former Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen was hospitalised after a venomous spider bit her leg while on tour with iconic Aussie rock band AC\/DC.<\/p>\n<p>The Pretty Reckless frontwoman is currently travelling with her band, opening for AC\/DC\u2019s Power Up Tour in Latin America, when she suffered the poisonous bite. <\/p>\n<p>The initial bite occurred nearly a week ago, with Momsen <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DW4irOoMnvX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">revealing on Instagram<\/a> at the time that a \u201cmassive spider\u201d decided to \u201ctake a chunk out of\u201d her leg. <\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old said the spider\u2019s venom \u201cdid a number\u201d on her system, but after she was treated by doctors and received an injection in her upper arm, she was hopeful she\u2019d be back on stage in no time. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are NO BUENO but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City!\u201d she wrote in an <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXIYYVCDn3u\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">April 15 update<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, hours later she revealed that she instead spent the day at the hospital after a large purple rash developed on her shin. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr I just spend the night in the hospital\u2026thank you to the amazing doctors who, well, they know,\u201d she <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXJndEEDr_A\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">wrote in a follow-up post<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>In the post, the former actress shared a photo of herself dressed in a hospital gown holding an ice pack to her head. She also shared a video as she was wheeled on a stretcher with her large bite circled in pen on her leg.<\/p>\n<p>It appears bad luck follows Momsen whenever she tours with the Aussie band. <\/p>\n<p>Two years ago, the frontwoman was <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/entertainment\/music\/singer-taylor-momsen-gets-bit-by-bat-while-opening-for-acdc-in-spain\/news-story\/6c4b0f3564696de37d51e16153de761c\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"6c4b0f3564696de37d51e16153de761c\" data-tgev-label=\"entertainment\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">bitten by a bat as she opened for AC\/DC<\/a> in Seville, Spain. The star was on stage singing her band\u2019s song Witches Burn when the incident unfolded.<\/p>\n<p>In a video shared on social media at the time, the singer paused her performance to address the crowd who kept pointing at her leg to inform her of the incident. Without noticing the critter on her leg, Momsen turned around confused until she looked down to find the bat sinking its teeth into her left leg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI must really be a witch,\u201d she told the crowd after she calmly asked the stage crew for assistance.<\/p>\n<p>This time, her left leg was spared but her right leg not so much.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it wouldn\u2019t be an AC\/DC tour if I didn\u2019t get bit\u2026this time a massive spider decided to take a chunk out of me and its venom did a number on my system so had to have the wonderful doctors in Mexico come and deliver quite the shot before the show last night\u2026add it to the list!\u201d she shared on Instagram. \u201cSpider woman? Batgirl? WTF.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time of going to press, it was unclear if Momsen\u2019s band The Pretty Reckless performed at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on Wednesday evening given her hospitalisation. <\/p>\n<p>The show marked the final date of AC\/DC\u2019s Latin America tour dates.
