\n\tBen Stiller<\/a> and Robert De Niro<\/a> brought the CinemaCon<\/a> crowd into the circle of trust with the first Focker In-Law<\/a> trailer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal<\/a> Pictures celebrated the Meet the Parents<\/a> sequel ahead of its Nov. 27 theatrical release. Owen Wilson<\/a>, Blythe Danner<\/a> and Teri Polo<\/a> reprise their roles from the franchise, while cast newcomers include Ariana Grande<\/a> and Beanie Feldstein.<\/p>\n

\n\tStiller made his way to the stage on his own, where he joked that the franchise\u2019s team planned a \u201cfully intentional 15-year-break between movies three and four.\u201d He pointed out that he is now roughly the same age that De Niro was in the 2000 film and added, \u201cI guess you could say I\u2019m the new De Niro of the franchise.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThis spurred De Niro to join him on the stage and quip, \u201cDon\u2019t say that. It\u2019s very disrespectful.\u201d He continued, \u201cYou made a very unflattering comparison that forced me to defend my honor.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pair also praised Grande\u2019s role in the new movie. \u201cShe got an Oscar nomination,\u201d De Niro told Stiller. \u201cHow many of those do you have?\u201d De Niro then added, \u201cI didn\u2019t write this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen the trailer screened, it kicked off with De Niro giving Grande a lie detector test, calling back to the first movie. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDo you think I hold Henry emotionally hostage?\u201d Stiller asks about his son, the romantic interest of Grande\u2019s character. Later, Grande tells the family, \u201cPeople underestimate me, but actually I was an FBI hostage negotiator.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLater, Stiller hears his son is planning to propose to Grande and asks, \u201cAre you sure she\u2019s the one?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe footage also shows the family dressed in pink shirts as they take a bike ride together, followed by Grande taking a nasty spill.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohn Hamburg, who worked on the screenplay for the original 2000 film Meet the Parents and the two subsequent sequels, helmed the new movie from his own script.<\/p>\n

\n\tFocker In-Law centers on Skyler Gisondo as the son of Stiller and Polo\u2019s characters, who gets engaged to a woman who seems all wrong for him.<\/p>\n

\n\tHelmed by Roach, the first\u00a0Meet the Parents\u00a0focused on a nurse (Stiller) having trouble getting accepted by his girlfriend\u2019s overbearing father (De Niro). The 2000 film surpassed $330 million at the global box office, and 2004\u2019s sequel\u00a0Meet the Fockers, which added Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand to the cast, was even bigger, collecting $522 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

\n\tRoach directed the first two movies, while Paul Weitz helmed 2010\u2019s\u00a0Little Fockers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a 2022\u00a0interview with\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u00a0to promote his Kevin Hart-Mark Wahlberg comedy\u00a0Me Time, Hamburg was cagey when asked if another\u00a0Meet the Parents\u00a0sequel could happen.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI will refrain from discussing that question, but I love everybody involved, and we all are still in touch, and I think that\u2019s all I\u2019m gonna say on that,\u201d Hamburg said at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\tCinemaCon is the annual event for exhibitors and Hollywood studios that runs this year from April 13-16.
